about me and my family Mood
Monday, September 8, 2008 | A General Update story
i got married 20yrs ago to the love of my life. he still is. ten yrs after we married we decided to become foster parents because we could have no children of our own. so we took in our first child. after about a year we asked what happend to the children with disabilitys and that was when we decided to get the nesasary training. i am glad we did. we now have 16 children with us. the state declares them unadoptable but we have managed to get a few adopted. we are not in it for the money or anything. i am doing this cause i was in the system as well. me and my twin brother were both in the system. we got separated and by the time i found out where he was it was to late. he had been placed in an abusive foster home and had taken his life cause he thought he was worthless. he had autism and that was i think the thing that made me think about caring for the special needs kids. when we take them in they are usually thinking that they are worthless. through love and understanding we teach them that they are not. we have stopped i dont know how many kids from taking there lives just my telling them we love them everyday. i remember this one little girl that came to us ten yrs ago. her name was angelica. she had down syndrom, autism, and epilepsy. she had also been sexually abused in the prior foster homes. her spirts were down when she came. it took us a while but we got them up. on her 10th birthday exactly we went to go wake the kids up for breakfast and we could tell this was going to be her last day on earth. as we stood by her side she signed very slowly and told us thank you. that her prayers had been answered cause not only had she found a lovely family but she had lived to her 10th birthday. she taught us that nomatter what we have eachother. i miss her alot but i know she is a perfect little girl in heaven and she does not have to deal with any of her disabilitys anymore.
