  hi John--so you went the cipro/flagyl route even w/out fever/leukocytosis? thats very interestng-i decided to not do the ab's this time but i am wondering if i have made a serious mistake.i didnt feel well on the ab's even w/doing Probiotics..plus I got a sore wrist tendon & some paresthesias which cn happen frm the flagyl. nothing shows up on 2 CT's/Mri, so the docs dont take this seriously for me.all my symtpoms however point to divert. i want to thnk you for your link to dr. floch's study i actually showed it to the colorectal doc yesterday-he didnt know what SCAD was--hmmm, he does know about Asacol,& Chrones, etc.

  hi John--thnks for your msgs--i was diagnosed w/ mild sigmoid diverticulosis on colonoscopy 3 yrs ago. i hve hd 2 ct scans--the last one shows mild thickening in sigmoid colon---whioch the ER doc said meant inflammation--unless these docs see absolute marked pathology on a scan--they think its all in yr head!!It is really frustrating to me-also i've never had a fever,or been hospitalized-- i managed 2 "flare-ups" w/out AB's,but as i mentioned i hve lost 2 much wgt by not eating down to 100#'s & so i can no longer do what i did in the beginning--namely clear liquids 2 dys and then lo-res. as they recommend.thank you Lilly

  john--thank you so much for sharing so much important info here--have you ever not done the cipro thing during a flare? becse I am not on Ab's & trying to manage this thru diet, its pretty scarry--but so far I never have had a fever w/ any flare-up/but qualitatively the LLQ pain is worse now than a months ago--I have read in the cautions Insert w/cipro that it can cause pseudomembraneous colitis even after you stop taking it! hugs to you Lilly
