Type: Adult Asthma

Lifelong asthmatic, multiple ER visits and hospitalizations, including intubation. After having a relatively good period lasting several years, my symptoms began to worsen dramatically about a year ago. Am now on oral prednisone and symbicort, but VERY interested in new therapies as this combo does not seem to be working to resolve the massive peakflow fluctuations that I experience daily.

Advair Somewhat Helpful

Used for the last five yrs and just changed to Symbicort, which seems to be working better for me in this period

Albuterol Working / Worked

Using now, have been using forever, these days difficult to consider life without it!

Azmacort Somewhat Helpful

Used in past, worked only partially

Dietary Modification Working / Worked

Realizing unfortunately that when I eliminate foods containing salycilates read more foods than I could ever imagine I am somewhat better. I didnt want to believe this because the dietary modifications are HUGE but there ya go...

Flovent Working / Worked

Immunotherapy Working / Worked

Allergy shots taken as a child actually do seem to have cured me of allergies to cat and dog danders!

Inhaler Working / Worked

Which one? Have been through nearly all of them!

Prednisone Working / Worked

Now up to 25mg day since June 2008

I was actually taking this when I had a nasty exacerbation and ended up intubated...

Started this in June, liking it very much

Took this all through the '80s! Worked, but it made me sick

This is only available to a select number of patients in Italy and so I am now trying to get myself on the list!
