The fireplace as finished
We used a local late 19th and early 20 century brick for the facing. Its called cream city brick. The same name was applied to Milwaukee Cream City because so many buildings had this unique brick. The brick is no longer produced so what brick I used was salvaged from buildings torn down.

Oh.........this is gorgeous!!! What beautiful work and I love the history behind the bricks.

I'm not sure about the future of those light fixtures that I put in. I like them, but I hate the sun room itself. It has a slanted glass ceiling and sliding doors that lead out to an outside surrounding deck. My plan this Spring is to take out the glass ceiling and all of the sliders. I'll replace the sliders with solid walls a picture window surrounded by a several double hung windows and the ceiling will be solid. I prefer the room more as a sitting room, not a sun room. With all the glass, it's forever a drafty room making it chilly in the winter (unless the fireplace is going) and to hot with all the sunlight in the summer.
