I cried also when I read your post under "Beautiful Boy." I'm going through a difficult time right now, and your words really hit home.

    • Close Kidney Stones

stones 25 years. Sharp pain in back last 11/2 yr. Doc would not believe me when I told him I had stones. I have passed many.. I know! finally asked for a CT scan. Multiple in both kidneys. some are quite large. 9mm. My new urologist put me on low oxilate diet and 1 gal water a day, get my PH to 6.5 to 7.5. one more test to go because I have had blood in urine. That is this week. The scope up to the bladder. I like drinking a lot of water. My body feels way better, my back does not hurt so much.

      Treatments

Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
in progress. All these years and finally a urologist that listened and helped me. Don't know what to do with all the stones in me, but there must be something. He does not want to do the zapping at this time, because i have many many stones, 3 being quite large. Changing diet in last month has resulted in 14 lbs weight loss. So that is a plus. Also he said being a walker helps. All organs work together. Guess they get a work out tool
    • Close Meth Addiction & Recovery

I am a mother of a meth addict. My husband and I are raising her child. She has been addicted half her life. For a long time she held a job and functioned, but now, physically and mentally she is declining rapidly. They say that a mother is only as happy as her saddest child. From first hand experience, I feel this to be true. I love her so deeply. She is a good soul. But, as any one in this forum knows, this rotten drug will destroy it.

    • Open Families & Friends Of Addicts

I am a daughter of an alcoholic. My first husband was killed by a drunk driver committing suicide. My sister is an addict. My sister's daughter died of an overdose. My daughter is an addict. I am raising her son. I am learning to be strong and live a life. To not get so hooked in and be enabling and codependent. It has been a harsh experience, especially seeing my daughter deteriorate. My grandson is such a joy. So much hurt and here he came. Those dark clouds do have silver linings.

      Treatments

      Patience Working / Worked
I think when I asked for patience God must have thrown this whole addiction thing at me me for the big test!
      Psychotherapy Working / Worked
Counseling was helpful. Especially when my counselor finally said I needed to accept my daughters addiction.
      Talking Working / Worked
Venting is good! I have friend and we go get a coffee and vent and then spend a morning quilting. ahhh
      Writing Working / Worked
I have kept a journal for years. One day I went back and read old entries. It was a wake up call. I had been whining about the same old things for years. It jump started me into making some changes.
    • Open Grandparents Raising Children

I am raising a grandson who is now 6 years old. Both parents are meth addicts. We have had our grandson since he came home from the hospital. The bio dad has relinquished his parental rights. (We want to adopt) but our daughter has resisted. We live in a very small community and it is very difficult as our daughter is homeless. Once in a while I run into her. It is awkward, and painful to see her physically and mentally decline. Never thought I would be dealing with this! Grandson is a joy.
