Close Kidney Stones

My first kidney stone struck at the tender age of 19. It was Christmas Night at my grandparents' house, and when it hit, I thought I was dying. Since then, I have had four lithotripsies, five stent placements, two extractions and have passed well over four dozen stones. Even as I type this, almost twelve years later, I am passing a stone...this is just me...

Treatments

Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Not Working

I have been given several diets to try. It seems the closer I stick to the diet, the more the stones attack. It doesn't make sense. They've determined that my stones are calcium oxalate... so they have me on a low oxalate diet. So far, not impressed. Passing a stone two months into the diet.

Surgery Not Working

Four lithotripsies...it seems like the more they operate, the faster the stones form and pass. So far, surgery only fixes the immediate threat but I am still just a ticking time bomb.
