Close Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
Type: Relapsing-remitting MSHi, my name is Michele and I am 46 years old. I was diagnosed with MS almost a year ago. I am doing well now. I am divorced (5 years now) and have 2 sons who live with their father. I work full time in healthcare administration. I enjoy working and helping others. I would like to go back to college and finish my BA degree. I do a lot to make sure that my health remains good. I eat right and exercise - sometimes...and I rest a lot! I am on daily Copaxone shots.
Treatments
- Copaxone Working / Worked
- I feel like it is working but have only been on it for about 9 months now.
- Provigil Working / Worked
- Have taken this periodically. It works. I don't take it often though as I believe when I am falling asleep after only being up for 2 hours...that there are other things I need to look at to releive what is going on.
- Solumedrol Working / Worked
- I had an exacerbation last November and was on this for 5 days intravenously. It worked wonders! I gained about 10 lbs. after this treatment and have only recently been able to lose most of that by walking and altering my diet.
Close Family Issues
My family is disfunctional, but most of them live in denial. I struggle with these relationships all the time and wish things were different. I am a 46 year old female - divorced twice and currently live alone - very far from my immediate family. It's much better this way. Many things have happened in my family that my mother and others refuse to see the real reasons. There are 5 siblings in my family and we are all affected and struggle with our mother's manipulative personality.
Treatments
- Music Somewhat Helpful
- Psychotherapy Somewhat Helpful
- I use this ocassionally, but have issues with finding a therapist who I feel comfortable with. I have moved several times and have had really great therapists...but lately, I have not found one who I "click" with.
- Talking Somewhat Helpful
- Talking to a therapist has made me see that this is not my fault. It's not easy to realize that things that have happened should have been prevented by my parents. That was difficult to deal with. I use therapy ocassionally.
- Writing Working / Worked
- Jounaling is a huge help!
Open Child Support & Custody
I am a 46 year old divorced female with 2 sons age 10 and 12. They live with their father. It was originally amicable that they live with him, but he is very irresponsible at times and I feel the children are not being well taken care of. He does not want me to have them as he would have to pay child support as he originally did 5 years ago when we divorced and they both were with me. He leaves them alone a lot and I don't like it. They often don't have a phone when they are alone.
