Thanks. My narcolepsy is getting worse and worse, with only sleeping one hour at a time, and the next day I am so worn out that I am more tired than when I went to bed. I got my food stamps finally, but still have issues of needing to work on it to continue receiving them. Well, I have 2 reports to write this weekend for my job, and lots of stuff - got to go to the pharmacy and to the Dollar Tree to buy a new shower curtain, and so much other stuff.....the lists go on and on, as always.

Vicki - Please do not take offense to the fact that I am always in such a hurry, or have too little time. I sleep at lest 14 hours a day, and much of the time even more. I am always ten days behind in everything,a d get panicked. When I called you yesterday, I was just getting ready to go out the door in a few minutes, but I was so concerned about your experience,a nd angered at what you had to go through that I let you keep talking - that was my fault because I knew I should have left for the bus. I have too many things I am dealing with right now - my food stamps are being cut off and that means I cannot make ends met with $165 less per month - rent was increased by $40.00. My case manager made a mistake (long story) and now for 12 months I will not get food stamps. Living on $160 per month ain't easy. HaD A JOB INTERVIEW mONDAY BUT it was a disaster. I had to let my other home care worker go because she as taking advantage of me and abusive - and had a brand new one come last night and she was much worse. Yesterday I was just worried about getting to work on time for that job which is only 5 hours per month. To top off everything, my former home care worker was to have deposited 3 checks for me, and did not. I thus bounced more than 10 checks, and cannot even pay my rent this month. I get upset because I have no safety net - no family or close friends, etc. So, please do not let my personal level of stress upset you. You cannot believe the level of fatigue I have been having, but I have to find some solutions to this economic crisis, and so I cannot even sleep at night without sleeping pills. I am the one who needs to apologize for my rudeness in needing to interrupt you and cut you off so I could catch the next bus, but I am desperate for the money and had to get going, even if I were going to be a few minutes late. Again, please accept my apologies for my many layers of rudeness,.

Don't worry about it. I was just in a hurry, but wanted to touch bases with you and see how you are doing. So sorry you had to go to ER, etc. I hope you continue to improve, despite the medical establishment - giggles.

    • Close Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

Am a 10+ year survivor of MS. I say survivor because I refuse to let it beat me...oh it tries but I won't let it take over. Am a Grandmother of 4 maybe 5, have 3 children all married, live alone with m dog and cat. Love the Lord and give him all credit for the good that I have in my life. Enjoy crafts, sewing, travel, camping and hunting. Love jewelry and am learning to make it myself...what fun.

      Treatments

      Avonex Working / Worked
I think it has helped slow the progression even though I have continued to progress, I have had fewer flares since I started. Flue Symptoms have been the worse side effects I have experienced from the Avonex. Because I started having seizures, it was looked and is watched in case the drug has any part in the seizures.
      Baclofen Working / Worked
Helps alot!! Can't even imagine what my legs would be like if I didn't get my Baclofen.
      Keppra Working / Worked
Very helpful in controling my seizures. No noticable side effects.
      Neurontin Working / Worked
Taking this drug for my Trimingel Neuralgia symptoms as well as helping with my seizures...havn't noticed any side effects..thank goodness.
      Physical Therapy Somewhat Helpful
Had some right after being diagnoised and have been discussing the possible need for having more.
      Psychotherapy Working / Worked
Really helps deal with living with chronic illness. Especially if you find someone who works with MS Patients a lot...then they understand what you are dealing with.
      Solumedrol Working / Worked
Currently having monthly IV. Found the monthly gram to be more effective than having 3 or 4 days of treatment then waiting until I have a large flare to get more. The worst problem I have had is that I am unable to get my IV in the short/quick 45 minute IV, but have to lengthen it out to 3-4 hours and have the drug diluted with saline. Makes for a long long day at the hospital every month. I am worried about the long term side effects I might face.
    • Close Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer)

I am 56 and just had my right kidney removed due to cancer on 1/28/09. I am still in shock because this was a 'chance' find while looking for causes of another problem. I am still waiting for final path reports, but the Dr has placed it at Stage 1, grade 3, whatever that means. I'll learn more soon I hope.
