Close Interstitial Cystitis (IC)
Treatments
- Baking Soda Working / Worked
- Helps but can cause swelling in my hands - possibly salt content?
- Bladder Instillation Working / Worked
- Currently in a six week series but I'm not having the success I've had in the past. I'm sure the lack of estrogen due to menopause is more the problem.
- Elmiron Working / Worked
- I got better but I agree with the research showing it isn't very effective and may just be acting like an anti-histimine.
- Pyridium Working / Worked
- I use the new Prosed. It doesn't help with urethral spasms, which are my primary problem. It does help though.
- MetroGel Working / Worked
- I wonder how many women don't know that vaginal infections can cause IC flares? It is 90% of my problem. Weekly metrogel can keep my IC under control in most cases. Now I'm experiencing loss of estrogen due to menopause so I've got a second problem. But I believe every woman with IC should regularly check for vaginal infections.
