I can't say I've had an easy time the last several days. The weekend flew by and I didn't do very much at all. My beau did the laundry AND dishes while I pretty much stayed on the couch or slouched in bed. But I have done some things.
I finally cleared a space for the books I brought from my mom's basement. If I get any more books they won't fit in the same spot, but I'll do what works for right now and leave the others alone. They're now sitting in the top of a little utility cart that in the cabinet part holds my vinyl collection. There's a nifty space above the doors and it's just the right height to squeeze in a few books. Some of them are old favorites; the others are motivational-get-happy-change-your-brain kind of books my mom gave to me that I've been ignoring.
I also started the process of gathering up the kitties' things... (My landlord doesn't know I have them and I plan on keeping it that way). I bought some of that carpet deodorizer stuff you sprinkle around and tried it out. I cleaned out a cabinet space just for my cleaning supplies. I put all the kitty toys, treats, and care supplies in a little bin. I also took the beds and some scratchy boards and put them in a large bin (just until the apartment walk-thru is finished)!
What else... I did a load of laundry, just the towels. They took 3 dry cycles. Ugh.
Oh! I forgot! We DID go to IKEA and I found these adorable, perfectly sized, fully functional, right color and everything little baskets! I'd searched far and wide at crafty stores and whatnot, but everything was too big... I needed a good system to store some foodie things on my baker's rack in the kitchen... Cereal, snacks, nuts and trail mix, candy stuff, granola bars, bread and sandwich buns... The baskets are SOOOO amazing, I was thrilled when I read the tags and realized they would fit the shelves with an inch or so to spare. Yay! I kinda just threw stuff in there and they need to be arranged right (and I need to cut the tags off) but that counts as another baby step.
Phew! I think I'm going to re-read my step 1's lists and see what else I can try tomorrow.

Wow so this turned into a long entry, but it DOES feel good to cross things off the list. Making them red is a super bonus fun idea. You always read somewhere that list-making is very helpful for staying focused and for that feeling of accomplishment. Yay!
