Throughout this horrific time in my life, I have really found out how many truly wonderful people live in this area. Everyone have been wonderful.
First I will start with a minister that is a friend of the family. As soon as I received the call about Joey, I raced down to the hospital. Within five minutes of reaching the hospital both the minister and my pediatrician were there. The minister, "Ralph" was there and very comforting. He said a prayer for Joey, baptized him and was really there to do anything that I asked. He also volunteered to speak at the funeral services. At the funeral services, he brought a book that talked about how to speak to your children about death. He is such a great man. He also had tears in his eyes and told me that that was one of the toughest services that he has ever had to conduct.
Then there was my pediatrician. This man is truley more then a doctor. He has "THE" biggest heart. He was there at the hospital, rubbing my shoulders and crying with me. I went outside twice to get some air and both times, he held Joey the entire time. He would not put him down. He closed his office for two days after Joey passed. He did everything to try and determine what caused this. He reported all the vaccines that Joey received 4 days prior to VAERS within 24hrs of Joey passing. This man called me everyday to check on me and was there at the funeral with me. Through out all this he has been blantently honest with me, even if the answeres were not something that I wanted to hear.
Yesterday I received the bill from the funeral home. I expected that the bill would be outrageous. Come to find out the funeral director and his wife had disscussed the situation and decided to only charge us their cost for everything. I had went to school with their daughter and all of their grandchildren are around the same age as my children.
It just amazes me when something this horrible happens, how so many wonderful people come together to support you. When I was younger, I was ready to get out of this area because there wasn't a lot of things going on. But you don't think about all the great people you are surrounded by and how much that truely means until something like this happens.

That's wonderful!

That's awesome, I was shocked too at how much support we got when Ari passed away and like you I wanted to leave here so badly when I was younger, so I know exactly what you mean.

That is wonderful! I was really surprised by the support we received as well especially since I am new to the area and don't know too many people... we have encountered so generous and supportive people and it has definitely helped during this very difficult time
