Close Kidney Stones

Two weeks ago I travelled to NY to visit my family .. developed severe lower back and abdominal pain ( right side)went to ER and had a Sonogram of the pelvis which showed a 7mm stone on top of my bladder in my ureter .. I did not have difficulty urinating, and no blood in urine. Within 36 hrs of diagnosis I went to a urologist who told me I would need a CAT scan.. got it immediately and no stone! Still had pain but was less severe .. anyway could I have passed the stone and not felt it?
