About Me
A peaceful hill-dweller on a sabbatical after years in the book-trade - married to a wonderful, crazy Sicilian, who is as loud as I am quiet. I am a mother, step-mother, reader, gardener, animal and nature lover who quilts when my "friend" SLE has me couchbound.

Hug
I hear ya about the powerful drug. Sounds as fun as the Imuran. Blood test every week for liver function etc. I'm down to every other week now, but it's still a little scary. What can you do? Hope for the best. Thank you for your kind words that always lift me up. You have this energy that I wish the world could feel. A lot of things would change then. I too was late with my sunflowers last summer. Poor things, seems like they are always last, but just so bright and cheery.
Flower
Some spring time flowers for planting. I hope that you are having a good time and nice weather. It was bad here for a few days, but hopefully we will have a nice day today. I thought of you while I was pulling up the dried up cosmos. Those got really huge!!!!! I'm hoping by the time it is spring here, I will be feeling a lot better than last year. There has got to be some payoff for the present torture treatment. lol I hope that you have been well. As always, thank you for being a friend. Kim
Moment of Peace
Thank you. I'm finding some peace, it's my new mantra, "give me peace." We have to change those from time to time and I find that it is working. We had fun on Halloween I actually got to go with my son this year and he was so excited. He dressed as Scooby Doo and everyone told him that they loved his costume. He said, "Mommy everyone loves me." I told him that yes they did. I hope you are finding some peace and restful moments also.

Close Lupus
Diagnosed with SLE in 2005, also have arrythmia (ventricular ectopic beats) Live in Australia, so interesting to see how the rest of the world deals with this disease.
Treatments
- Celebrex Working / Worked
- Was working well til recently I only use pain relief when needed - not daily. No side effects
- Plaquenil Working / Worked
- Works well - no major side effects - am vigilant with eye testing.
- Prednisone Not Working
- Didn't like this drug at all - bad reaction, instant weight gain and puffiness, not myself at all, seemed to make me behave erratically.
Close Cerebral Palsy
My husbands little nephew has cerebral palsy (he is 6 years old). He is currently living in Italy and his parents are always looking for new treatments.
