About Me
Have asthma, colitis..both affect my ability to work. Worked for years in the mental health field, and worked with young offenders. Have a BA in Sociology and a BSW. Completed my Bachelor of Education in 2002- was when I was diagonsed with colitis and polyps found in my colon. I completed a post grad course on Special Education last year. Would love to work part-time as a teacher- but are no jobs (were 262 applicants for one position for part-time special ed position that I applied for) - there is no way I can work full time teaching with my health conditions. Am currently unemployed and stressed to the hilt regarding my future. Oh, also going through menopause and all the fun stuff that goes along with it.

Close Crohn's Disease & Ulcerative Colitis
Was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2002. Have had an awful lot of stress in my life so it flares up all the time.
Treatments
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
- Don't drink, eat or chew anything with arfifical sugars... splenda the only one... have noticed a difference
- Colazal Working / Worked
- If this is the same as colace, it does help soften the bowel movements
- Dietary Modification Working / Worked
- Fibre, fibre, fibre.. was told..... has helped with the softening of the bowel movements, but may also be problem with gas (have to take beano along with a lot of food)
- Prednisone Not Working
- Take this for my asthma, it seems to make the colitis worse
Close Asthma
Type: Exercise-Induced AsthmaStarted with chronic sinusitis... 3 operations... then developed asthma that just keeps getting worse and worse and it doesn't help that I live in the 2nd to worst city in Canada for poor air quality
Treatments
- Albuterol Somewhat Helpful
- Use it before exercise (helps some) and for relief (doesn't work for this)
- Serevent Somewhat Helpful
- Was a while ago
- Symbicort Working / Worked
- Was a good sent... but now up to 2 puffs 4 times daily... seems to be doing less (or the asthma just that much worse)
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- Works the best of all when they will prescribe it for me.... short term... on last of 5 day treatment right now and still not better but ragweed etc really bad this year bad humidity and heat and doesnt help I live with a smoker that just cant seem to get how bad it is for me
