Close Depression
Type: Clinical (Major) DepressionI have been depressed since I was probably about 13 or so. It's gotten a little worse lately and I'm looking for new ways to get out of it, especially non-medicinal options. I have been seeing a psychologist since 2000 or so and have been on medications since about 2002.
Treatments
- Celexa Working / Worked
- I used this for a couple of years and it worked well at first, then I switched to Paxil and Wellbutrin.
- Meditation Working / Worked
- I love this because it doesn't require anything but quietness and clears my mind very well.
- Paxil Working / Worked
- I have been using it, but I have been wondering how well it is working - I am feeling depressed a bit again lately.
- Positive Thinking Somewhat Helpful
- I have a lot of self defeating thoughts, and it can be hard at times. I am trying my best to utilize this more effectively.
- Psychotherapy Somewhat Helpful
- I'm not sure how well this is going lately - the psychotherapy is more going to get the medications I'm on renewed. I could use a counselor that I can be more open with and get more feedback on my situation from.
- Wellbutrin Working / Worked
- This has been helping probably the most consistently of the medications I've used. The only negative side effect is if I use it too late in the afternoon, I have a little trouble falling asleep at night.
- Writing Working / Worked
- This helps when I can get support from other people and realize that other people go through the same thing.
