Close Brain Injury
I was a wedding coordinater-doing wedding in ruins of VERY old house. I tripped over an old wooden nail sticking up& took a 3"1/2'flight ft.into the corner of a brick pillar. OUCH-I think....Next thing I knew it was 16 days later & Tank God I was @ one of the top 4 Hospitals for TBI. I need to give a shout out to Brainfade1. I have to say that I am grateful to workmans comp. I was inpatient almost 4 months & got some of the best care on earth. Without it, I wouldn't be where I am.

- Yes-it works, for awhile. I had to resign myself to the fact that I would be living the rest of my life in pain. My docs also helped me come to terms w/ the fact that even though my body would be dependent, I would have to be hyper aware of not crossing the line into full blown addiction. So far, so good. When I can't wrap my mind around a med anymore, I come off of it & go on something weaker.for 6-9 months. When that doesn't work-back up the ladder. So far so good for 7 yrs. now.
Close Epilepsy & Seizures
I fell at work in 2000 resulting in an open head wound resulting in 16 days in coma. Upon being pulled out of sedated coma, seizures started. For the first 6 years, I had such a bad balance disorder, I kept falling, & causing 3 mor subdural hematomas. Then the seizures would be often-sometimes 3-5 times a day, slowing as the injury healed, but, of course, never going away. So, clumsy me, fell again last March, & REALLY did the deed. Like I hadn't already.Now, they don't stop,just slow down.

Open Chronic Pain
In 2000 I fell resulting in an head injury, which lead to 16 days in coma, aneurysm surgery, 4 more subdurhal hematomas,host of metalinside me. I now can't remember a day without pain since that day. I live on faith & my sense of humor & a lot of "there but for the Grace of God go I". I hear "normal" people complain about pain & think to if you only knew! I would trade childbirth some days rather than face the day. I moved to FL & it is better since there is little to no humidity.
