Welcome to the DS Support Groups - I've just read your entry - Wow, you have just given me the name of the med. I was put on when I first got migraines - I'd forgotten it - it's a beta-blocker - & I remember now - it is called Inderal. That worked for me so well that I had no more migraines for the rest of the time I was in North America - only downside was going to the Neuro for regular checkups! I will now be able to tell my Dr - if I ever get so bad again: I find that avoiding my allergens is the most important thing - then stress - in my case cold is a big stressor! I should live in the Tropics! (I wish) Best wishes, JaneD.

Close Migraine Headaches
I have been a migraine sufferer for over 30 years. For the first time in my life I feel like they are under control.
Treatments
- Amerge Working / Worked
- I has a sample, took it when I was out of Relpax.. It helped, like relpax better.
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
- I avoid MSG, nutrasweet and red wine
- Caffeine Somewhat Helpful
- Helps if I forget to drink my coffee in the AM, or a coke at lunch
- Excedrin Working / Worked
- This is what I grab fist, Excedrin Migraine. If it does not work in an hour, I take Relpax.
- Fioricet Working / Worked
- It worked, but only in large doses...
- Imitrex Working / Worked
- Imitrex did not work for me when it first came out. The shot in my thight has helped in a dire situation.
- Inderal Working / Worked
- I have taken 80 mg, twice a day for 15 years. I really helps.
- Midrin Not Working
- This med did not really help me, I think it made me feel worse.
- Relpax Working / Worked
- I LOVE this med! did I say I love this med!! The only rescue med that has really worked... It's expensive, but cheaper than an ER visit.
- Topamax Working / Worked
- This helped. I did not like the bad taste it left in my mouth..
