finding a new church/religion... Mood
Tuesday, June 9, 2009 | A Positive story

so its been a very long time since we, my husband and children, have been to a church. i grew up in an independant baptist, and then southern baptist, church. my husband was raised southern baptist. but neither of us want to stay with the baptist church(we were not happy with the baptist church for certian reasons). and so we have not been to any church in a long while.  that, and my husband is not much help in the department of helping find a new church. lol well, i have finnally made the decision that we need to find a church and thats that. so i forced him to look at a few with me. i am kinda interested in the catholic church but he is not. so we have been trying to look at some other churches that will suit the both of us. i really wanna go somewhere we will both be happy. so after looking a little bit we have so far decided to go check out an assembly of God church tommorrow night and then on thursday go to a presbaterian church for a pamplet on them. we really dont know much about any churches other than baptist. so we are doing as much reserch as we can on them to find one that goes along with our belief system and we feel God is leading us to. but there are so many different churches that is is hard to find one. i almost feel like a new christian who knows of Gods love and His word but have no idea on where to start on a place to worship. i mean, i am a saved christian and have have my core beliefs, as does my husband, and we want to raise our children in a church that we feel at home and know God is in. i know that we probably will never find "the perfect church" that gets ALL the same things from the Bible. but if we can find a place that we see eye to eye with on the important things that would help. for instance, we a 100% against abortion!!!!! and i cant see going to a church that thinks its ok. though i dont think the church should outcast someone for it either. afterall, it says in the Bible we should love all Gods people. so even though we feel abortion is murder at any stage, you should still pray for that person. that they see the trueth and repent, or if its not too late, just dont do it.  but thats just an example...

well, anyways, please pray for us in our jorney and if anyone reading this has any thoughts, advice, or suggestions on religions i would love any help i can get. if you are religious and can give me/us any help such as ur religion, its beliefs and such i would be in great need and soooooo appreciative of it. thank you all so much. God bless.

I am United Church of Christ. I was brought up Presbyterian, but the churches here that are Presbyterian are huge, and I like smaller churches where you can really fellowship and know people. My father was brought up Baptist. My female parent was brought up Catholic. I have aunts that are Methodist. You have to find a place where you feel safe. I am praying for you and your hubby to find a church home soon. Pepper
