About Me
I am a 36 year old single mom of a wonderful 7 year old boy. From what I remember, I am outgoing, enjoys living life to the fullest. My life was turned upside down in 2005 when literally overnight I was diagnosised with ankylosing spondylitis, fibromyalgia and chronic fatgiue. I have had to stop working and in the process of applying for disabilty. That process is humilating and not where I ever imagined myself. Treatments have not been working, but I do remain hopeful. This process has been very positive in that I have learned a lot about myself and get to spend time with my son. He has had to grow up a little faster, but is a great help.

I have been diagnosised with Chronic Fatigue/Fibro/Psoriatic Arthritis/Ankylosing Spondlitis. In Nov 2005 I woke up one day and my joints were swollen, red, muscle pain, crushing lower back pain and fatigue as I have never felt before. I could not physically get out of bed. I began my journey with a rheumatologist and many, many treatments. Now when reading about chronic fatigue there are many things that make sense with what I have struggled with throughout my life.
Treatments
- Cymbalta Working / Worked
- seems to
- Klonopin Working / Worked
- wonders for my panic attacks
- Pain Management Clinic Not Working
- I was hoping for a miracle I believe, but did more harm. I received SI injections and Nerve Ablation on Facet Lower Back area, made pain much worse
- Lyrica Not Working
- I had major drug intolerance reaction.
- Topamax Working / Worked
- Has been great for my migraines some back pain
Open Fibromyalgia
I am struggling with trying to get a proper diagnosis. Back in December 2004 my whole life changed overnight. But in the information and research, many things I can see fit together and were blazing warning signs but I had no idea I was suppose to be looking for something. I ent to bed fine and woke up with bone crushing fatigue, swollen joints, that were red and pain in my lower back I have never experienced before. I was not able to walk or move. That started this journey.
Treatments
- Aqua Therapy Somewhat Helpful
- Ok, not sure exactly what you mean by this, since I see hot tub underneath. I cannot go in a hot tub, since I cannot tolerate extremely hot water. I used to be able to go in a hot tub, but ever since my life changed, it literally burns my skin. What does help is a heated pool where I can dool water aerobics or water walking. The only side effect is getting out of the pool, is severe pain in my lower back from the gravity or readjusting to the gravity.
- Cymbalta Working / Worked
- No side effects, seems to help
- Duragesic Patch Not Working
- This did not work for me at all. For some reason the patches would not stick to my skin, no matter what I did. I even called the company and they sent me larger clear patches like what secures IV's and the such in the hospitals, but they would not stick to my skin. I made sure my skin was free of any lotions, creams, nothing, it was freshly washed - Oh well
- Ultram Not Working
- This was a total joke
Open Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
I have been dealing with IBS for several years as part of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue. It has just gotten worse due to more meds I need to take for my Psoriatic Arthritis and Depression & Anxiety that have caused many problems.
Treatments
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
- This seems to help.
- Colace Too Soon to Tell
- I was using this on an intermitten basis but have now gone to everyday use. Before when it was on an as needed use it worked, but will see what results I get with an everyday use.
- High Fiber Diet Somewhat Helpful
- Seems to do good.
- Miralax Too Soon to Tell
- My doctor just had me start using everyday, so we will see.
- Peppermint Somewhat Helpful
- Have used in the past.
- Probiotics Somewhat Helpful
- I am thought this was helping before addition
- Psyllium Working / Worked
- I do take this and seems to help at times.
Open Separation Anxiety
I am a single mom of a 7 year old boy. I left his father when he was 4 months old. In late 2004, I became ill and life changed drastically for me and of course it impacted my son's life. In 2007, I became unable to work any more, so for the first time, I was able to be home with my son and he no longer had to be in daycare. It caused me to totally re-evaluate my life, but my son has great separation anxiety.
Treatments
- Pets Somewhat Helpful
Open Anxiety Disorders in Children
I am a single parent of a 7 year old son. His father is not actively involved in his life. He may call every once in awhile though. My son suffers many stomach aches due to stress and anxiety. I got very sick in 2004 and had to stop working in 2007, so he worries about that.

Looking for support and offer support from others who truly understand what it is like to suffer from psoriasis. I have both psoriais in my skin and joints.
Treatments
- Dovonex Working / Worked
- This really used to help at least
- Elocon Working / Worked
- It does not take the psoriasis away, but helps to calm the skin.
- Enbrel Not Working
- I used for a period of time and did not see an change.
- Methotrexate Working / Worked
- I have been using for for 5 years now with a few breaks in between. It does nothing for my joint pain but I am having more and more outbreak in my skin now though.
- Humira Not Working
- This worked really great for the first 3 months. My energy levels returned to preillness I was estatic. Than it just stopped and crushing fatigue returned and stayed.
- Remicade Not Working
- This did work for me since after several infusions my SED rate was greatly improved which was that first time it moved downward. However during an infusion I had a life threatening reaction. I remember waking up to the Rapid Response team......
