About Me
I can tell you about how I used to be: Goofy, fun, silly, energetic, happy. About Me Now? I'm not so sure...I am 21 years old, recent P.E. Surviver trying to cope with all of the emotion and physical curveballs I've been thrown in the last 4 months. My P.E. was on June 10, 2008. I am expected to be on Coumadin until June 09 ( Recommended 1 year of treatment) My P.E. was caused by YAZ B.C. I have become a very anxious person, obsessed with each ache and pain I might get. I am currently doing my best to work on myself mentally physically and spiritually. I know deep down that this event happened for a reason and will make me a better person in the end.

Hey cupcake..Well done on your loss that's really fantastic...I got stuck for a few weeks so started the weight watchers on line and I'm back on track 26 pounds lighter. XX

Thank you!!! I was thinking about doing that, I want that stuff off the market and unavailable. I don't want another woman to go through what we've been through. To be so young and have this condition is not fun at all. Def let me know what I can do!!! TTYL!!!

Close Pulmonary Embolism
I like so many other young girls, decided to take birth control to regulate my periods. The doctor told me about a 'new' Birth Control pill called YAZ that would diminish all of my horrible period time problems. I was on YAZ for about 5 Months and then my P.E. hit... I had sudden shortness of breath, pressure in my chest, and a fast heartbeat. I decided to go to the ER after a few hours and found out the news: Massive Bi-latteral P.E. Now trying to cope!
Treatments
- Coumadin Working / Worked
- Love/Hate relationship. My INR has been consistantly between 2.0-3.0 since Ive started taking it. Recent CT Scan (10-14-08) showed my large P.E. is completely gone. However, I do feel that I have some side effects from the pill such as: Muscle aches/Cramps, Frequent trips to the potty #1, Dizziness/Wooziness.
- Heparin Working / Worked
- I was on a Heparin Drip the 10 days I was in the hospital and then I was switched to coumadin. The only side effect I can say I experienced was bruising but thats to be expected.
Close TMJ
I was unaware that I had TMJ until about two weeks after my P.E. Once at home I became very stressed which caused my jaw, head, neck, ears to all become VERY painful.It has taken a good 3 months but most of the issues have resolved themselves. I still have tension when I chew something too hard but I believe it is healing.
Treatments
- Mouthguard Working / Worked
- I had my orthadontist make me a bite splint so that I couldnt Clench/Grind my teeth at night. This I believe helped, and I will continue to wear it to maintain the healing process.
Open Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
