Thank you! You do give me hope. I am only 2 weeks past my diagnosis, so I'm glad to hear it will get better.

Thank you! I'm doing very well (so far)! Had a few "partying" days with copious amounts of wine, so that was nice! But I kind of found that life without a hangover is pretty nice, so I'm kind of back to the "in moderation" days of when I was on coumadin. He he - the PE changed me for life in ways I never would have guessed! I haven't had any flights since being off the meds, but I've got a trip to London next month, so I'm a bit anxious. My hemo says no meds needed for the trip (and she is fully aware of my numerous 10-12 hour flights per year) and that she would only prescribe me some in order to ease my mind. I might still do, I don't know?!

Glad to hear you're doing so well - I'm so happy to keep in touch with all the PE-peeps from last summer, and so happy to see we're all goin' strong!

    Take care, and hugs!

Hi there Dawn and thanks for the hugs! Fancy you spending 3 years in Sheffield! Yes it is the Hallamshire - one of only 5 hospitals in the UK that specialise in pulmonary hypertension. It makes a big difference when the doctors understand all that I've been going through and they really are a lovely bunch in Sheffield. Good luck with your job application - they would be lucky to have you! Sandi xx

Aw wow, I'm so pleased to hear that you've found a lovely doctor! That's great news...and I know that will make such a difference to you! It's so important to have a great doctor...I don't know what I would of done without mine...so I'm really happy for you!

I bet you did so great at the interview...please let me know how you got on when you can - I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Hope your tests go well tomorrow...I have no doubt you'll be absolutely fine! You're doing so well hun...wich I could be more like ya! I seem to be going backwards rather than forwards at the moment. I can't see any end in sight...just really hoping they'll fix me sooner rather than later - so I can get on with my life!

    Keep up the good work my dear - you're an inspiration to us all x x x x x x x x x

Dawn - You are so right about the important of a good doctor. I worry alot so I really need to find one. I would rather know I am in good hands and my doctor is on top of things so I do not have to.

I am thinking more about your post. Being on medication and being tied to Coumadin clinics and doctors almost creates a feeling of dependency and can foster a feeling of victim or add to self pity. Make you feel not entirely as free as you were before. I am working hard to overcome that.

I am glad you are doing well. I always like reading what you have to say.

    Best,
    Pam

Aw, thanks so much! I was really, really glad to see your post and to hear that you're doing so well! 9 months on and I'm just now feeling like I'm coming out of the PE hole, but thank goodness for hearing positive updates from others like you!

Oh wow Dawn - I can't believe we've had such similar experiences. I did ask about the injections and was told that I didn't need them. I actually think I have that in writing - I wonder if it is worth taking things further in terms of a complaint or something so that hopefully other people will get the correct advice. I think I'm always going to be anxious about flying after having gone through this twice even if I'm on warfarin. I asked the last doctor if they were going to do anything to find out where and why these clots were forming and he said no not until I have another one whilst I'm on warfain. It wasn't IF it was WHEN which doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the warfarin being the end to me having more PEs in the future which is rather scary. Also I'm happy that I'm on the warfarin now but not too keen on being on it for life and in the future I'd like to see what other options/alternatives there are. Crazy isn't it - I work in the health profession and I don't know where to start to try and find a doctor who I can work with on this. So far I have seen 2 cardiologists, a respiratory specialist and an occupational physician and they all only cover a certain area of PE management and none of them communicate with each other! My ideal would be someone who could oversee my management in total on an on-going basis and advise me on an individual needs basis - is that too much too ask? I see that quite a few people on this site suggest seeing a pulmonologist or haematologist. What do you advise in terms of which speciality Dr to try and see?

How are you feeling about flying again? Do you have any flights booked as yet?

    Kaz
