We live in a world that urges us to admire and pursue everything that's faster, newer and bigger.
But I am thinking there's a disquieting truth here, and I have been contemplating this recently in the midst of the busyness of life and work.
A life based on urgency, speed and productivity demands a high price ... both emotionally and spiritually.
Think about it.
How often do you feel overwhelmed, only to add more to your "To-Do" list?
Do you wish for an extra day in your week, an extra hour in each day?
Have you ever been in a conversation, when it hits you: I'm not really here?
If so, it's time to learn to pause.
There are times we need to learn the power of not-doing and give ourselves permission to let our souls catch up with our bodies.
The myth of our modern world is that our lives get better the more we do. Actually, the opposite may be true: we become more real, more human, more here, the less we do.
Maybe we need to find more time to sit still, if only for ten minutes.
To sit still is to stop. Literally. To take a break.
Funny how this can take practice ... just to stop, to quit and to let our souls catch up with our bodies.

The opposite is very true & I can attest to that. Since I no longer am in the rat race, life has become so much more richer, simpler, peaceful, slower, etc. etc. I wouldn't change it for no amt of money or chance at possessions of any kind. I do a weekly meditation/prayer hr & it just completes life so perfectly.
