I have pics of my husband on here too... lol Greg knows about my secret love affair with Edward! He just gives me a hard time...it's funny. But I do believe that older people have heard of the books or seen the actors from the movies on the tv. Deb asked me about it..said she has read the books...that could maybe take your mind of the tinnitus...you should watch twilight! It's an awesome movie :)

Close Tinnitus
I have had chronic tinnitus for almost two years (high pitch like a steam kettle) lost around 30% hearing in both ears - wear hearing aids in both ears - have had bouts of severe depression.
Treatments
- Neurontin Working / Worked
- seemed to lower tinnitus but not very much - side effects - big weight gain.
- White Noise Working / Worked
- knocks everything out but that high pitch - looking into the maskers or tinnitus instruments that you wear - wonder if I can stand wearing the noise and hearing the high pitch too - doc says $2200 for the two of them.
- Xanax Working / Worked
- Lowered it a little. My doc nagged and nagged until I got off saying I was an addict and she was worried about me knocked out the panic attacks and I seemed to worry about the tinnitus less I honestly want to go on it and forget the Gabapentin That gaba knocked on an extra 15 pounds in no time.
Close Hearing Loss & Deafness
Type: Sensorineural (Moderate)I have moderate hearing loss in both ears in the high frequencies. Wear BTE Aides in each ear and suffer from tinnitus

- Hearing Aids Working / Worked
- Xanax: Helps when I get too stressed out about tinnitus Hearing aides: Must have them to understand speech

Type: Clinical (Major) DepressionSevere depression - most I have ever suffered - wondering if tinnitus and hearing loss are the triggers or are they symptoms of the depression - fighting anxiety attacks.
Treatments
- Seroquel Working / Worked
- I thought it was working - hit major depressive episode - actually dream of dying - begging God to kill me every day.

Wife, Mother, 43 years old - ashamed to admit this, but spend a lot of time feeling sorry for myself - because I lost 40% of my hearing - also struggle with major depression - I am inspired by people in this group who let nothing stop them - I need to be like you
Open Hypothyroidism
I was just diagnosed with having a thyroid that is no longer functioning - they call it hypothyroidism. I have been on Synthyroid for a week.

- I have a really bad tinnitus. They say tinnitus is a side effect of a bad thyroid - I am just hoping the noise will subside some if I can fix the thyroid problem.
