Close Anxiety
I started taking medication for depression and anxiety 15 years ago. Yeah, wow. After many years of therapy, the medication has kept me consistently free of major attacks. After being diagnozed with stage 3C cancer, my xanax was upped to 2 mg per day. This was a life saver in dealing with extreme anxiety. With much gratitude, I'm now five years in remission. I'm now trying to reduce my addiction to xanax. Not easy. If my cancer comes back, I'll start taking it again.
Treatments
- Breathing Exercises Working / Worked
- Worked for mild anxiety.
- Klonopin Somewhat Helpful
- I didn't find this very helpful for anxiety. Paxil and xanax work better.
- Paxil Working / Worked
- This works well for anxiety and depression. Side effects include constipation and weight gain.
- Positive Thinking Working / Worked
- This is always a good thing to strive for.
- Xanax Working / Worked
- This is excellent for panic attacks and general anxiety. It does build tolerance right away so doctor guidance/restraint are required.
- Zoloft Not Working
- I tried this briefly and didn't like it at all. It made me very edgy and impossible to sleep.
- Prozac Working / Worked
- This was ok for depression but not good for anxiety. Like Zoloft it gave me chronic insomia.
Close Uterine Cancer
I was diagnosed with stage 3C uterine cancer in 2003. The cancer at met to my lymph nodes. I had a complete hyst, radiation and was part of a clinical trial for chemotherapy. I'm very grateful to be in remission five years later. I still live in almost daily fear of recurrence. If it comes back, I will considered "terminal." I never want to have chemo again. I'm so grateful to be alive yet trying to deal with ongoing uncertainty.
Treatments
- Radiotherapy Working / Worked
- I went through 30 radiation treatments. Compared to chemo, radiation is quite easy to tolerate. I had mild nausea, food tasted "tinnny". I guess it helped. I'm still in remission after radiation and chemo.
- Chemotherapy Working / Worked
- I was part of a clinical trial on cisplatin and adriomyacin. I had inpatient treatments once every 3 weeks for six months. I got very sick and lost all my hair. It was considered aggressive therapy. It seems to have worked. Ive not had a recurrence.
