Monday, April 20, 2009 | A Frustrating story

As some of you may know, I have been smoke free since 7-25-2008. the cravings are less and less and the benefits of breathing free have taken over. I can now RUN pretty far, whereas I used to be able to power walk. I can also complete an hour of aerobics hardly out of breath. Biking is another favorite which I can now deep breath instead of gasping for breath while I am biking. The benefits go on and on and I could never say enough about continuing your quest and not giving up. Never stop pledging to NOPE!

So now for the weird problem; since I have quit almost 9 months ago, I have developed very bad bloating and gas as well as bladder problems. I was treated for a UTI but the meds did not help at all. Ironically, I have met a few other people who have quit smoking, one on this site, who are having the same problems!! Is this a coincidence? Perhpas a study should be done but until then I would just appreciate your opinion if you feel like sharing.

At first I thought it was the Chantix, way back in the summer, but I have been off that since mid October. I have read about cider vinegar tablets helping gas so I am trying them. Since I teach privately, it is pretty awkward to be constantly "tooting!", so I feel like I have become somewhat of a hermit.

Is anyone else experiencing this? I have never had any pain, just the gas and bloating.

thanks for your opinion!

I have not had this problem but I remember reading about it so someone else has and I think others responded and had also experienced this. Not bladder but the tooting was talked about. I think if it continues it may not be quitting related but maybe diet or maybe more exercise is causing this. I would probably google it, that is how I diagnose myself these days. Toot toot!!! lol
