About Me
I'm a widowed, disabled, grandma. Sounds like I'm all crumpled up in a rocking chair, but I'm not that bad yet. When I could still work, I was an Optician for many years, and enjoyed it immensely.

Close Breast Cancer
I was scheduled for a routine mammogram, which I had and since there's no history of cancer in my family I expected a "clean" report. I didn't get one! I was immediately sent to a surgeon who wanted to do a biopsy the same week. I had that done, and it came back positive and I was scheduled for a lumpectomy 2 days later. What was so fortunate was that I was at Stage 0, and I didn't even know there WAS a Stage 0 breast cancer! I had DCIS. After the lumpectomy, I had 6 weeks of radiation.

Open Degenerative Disc Disease
I have had 2 open spinal surgeries, one for L4-5 and one for L3-4, plus a Spinal Cord Stimulator Implant which I had for 6 months. It later had to be removed due to complications. The surgeries were for herniations, and were NOT a success. Other levels became unstable, and also the pain was NEVER relieved. I now have those same discs re-herniated, plus one more. Also, scar tissues causes extreme pain, and cannot be removed. I'm now inoperable and disabled. Surgery should be a LAST RESORT.

Type: Loss of a Partner/SpouseI lost my beloved husband Dave in March of 2001, and he died 12 before our first anniversary. This was a second marriage for both of us. He was my soul mate ~ the 'other' part of me, and I miss him terribly. I'm doing well now, but it was the worst experience of my life watching him die here at home. I wouldn't have had it any other way though.
