Paxil has actually be shown to cause panic attacks. I haven't studied the pharmacology (how it works in the body) of Paxil, but I am certain it has something to do with it. When I was first on Paxil, it helped and then, ultimately, it led to more panic attacks. When I stopped taking it, I was fine until I developed Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Now I take medication that specifically acts on the fight-or-flight chemicals and helps block their reception. Understanding how the illness is acting in your body is important to figure out what medicine will actually be useful. Doctors throw meds at us but they can only guess unless we can be more specific and they can research the action of the medicine more specifically. Can you tell me more about how and when you started having panic attacks? Are they related to anything specific? The more information, the easier it is to find the medicine that can be most effective for you! ;)
