WOW Mood
Friday, December 19, 2008 | A Venting story

I just read a post from one of the groups I am still in. It is one of the Vet. groups. It was so upsetting to me. He was really spewing hate for people just because they are Arab, Muslim, or someone like them. I guess I can understand how and why he may feel that way. However my father died hating Asians and I always wondered why. I always assumed it was because of his time in WWII. I don't think he was right feeling this way though. Those were people that were just trying to do what they thought was right at the time. Are we to hate everyone that may have hurt us at one time or another or those that are related to them or look like them? If one woman hurt me terribly am I going to hate all women? Of course not. Our enemies all had their reasons to shoot at us just like we had to shoot at them. Why do we have to kill each other just because we don't agree? I was told once that I could not support our military if I did not support the war. Is that just crazy thinking or just me? I very much support our troops for doing what our country has asked them to do. I just don't think our country should ask them to go and indiscriminately shoot and kill people just because they are from a certain country or because they don't agree with our way of thinking. Is that crazy? Any crazier than shooting someone that you don't know just because you are told to? When I was a Deputy I had made the decission ahead of time that I would shoot someone if they were puting in imminate danger someone else. But I would try and just get out of the way or disarm them if I was the only one that was being put in iminate danger. I always wonder every time I see an armed guard on one of those amared cars. Would they really kill someone over money? Money that isn't even theirs? Is that really worth taking someone life for? When you carry a loaded gun you had better be willing to shoot someone. If you are going to shoot them you had better shoot to kill. That is what we were taught. If they are doing something bad enough to be shot for then don't give them the chance to do it again. Doesn't really make as much sense now as it did then.

There are so many different people here with so many different ideas about things. I want to be friends with so many but when do you decide that your beliefs and theirs are just to far appart. Or do you just overlook those ideas that you don't agree with. Can you do that really?

Wow my head is starting to hurt. I guess I had better stop trying to figure this all out right now......LOL

War, military....does it ever accomplish anything but more hurt and disable people mentally and emotionally?Besides taking lives and costing astronomicallly. Leaving people messed up for life afterwards. Then the poor healthcare issues too.

Soo many problems and we know who has the answers ...not man.

    Enough serious stuff for now.
Hope today is a great day for you.

I guess my hard part is, those who take it out on our vets who fought for their freedom. My husband served in the Gulf War. Now, from his service he is a disabled vet who can no longer be the husband and father that he was. He can't play ball with his boys, he can't work, he can't think straight most days. Not only did he suffer but his family suffers all ot these years later, not to mention all of the time he was gone back then. He is no longer the provider of our family. He no longer and take care of yard work or fix the car. It hurts me when I see people who do not appreciate our men and women in our military and our vets who served and fought for us. I tip my hat to those who have served and who are doing so now.
