Just an update about me Mood
Tuesday, September 30, 2008 | A General Update story

Well I changed my avatar. A friend suggested it might help by not reminding me of how I feel. I also think the current avatar reflects more where my mind is lately. I am very pasionate about what is going on in our country right now. With the elections and the current wall street mess. Debbie thinks that I am obbsessed with the elections and this financial mess. I keep telling her that more American need to be also. It is time that we stop being so complacent and open our eyes and take a good look for ourselves at what is going on. We can not just believe what we are told on TV and newspapers. I believe that they are very slanted and have their own agendas. I do have to admit that when I am so consumed with the current events I don't have time to think about how I feel about anything other than the current events. I just get so frustrated that people are so complacent about the direction our country is going and who is directing it that way. I can't understand how anyone could really want either of these two "main" candidates that are running. One may have much more trouble with PTSD than he admits and the other has what qualifications? and also some very troubleing accutation of passed conections and beliefs. I don't know if any of the stories are true. But I am ver afraid of what might happen if we find out they are and it is to late then.

I have been doing much research about third parties. I believe nothing much in Washington will ever change with the current two party system. I have recently read the Constitution. I have also read up on the Constitution Party and their platform. They have a lot of the same beliefs that I have. Much more than any other party. I have looked into all of them I can find. There are some pretty stange ones out there!!  I really do believe that our forefathers are probably turning over in their graves right now. If they were here now they would probably try to find another country to move to and start over again. We are so very far from what I believe they had in mind when the set up this country. We are so concerned about what is politically correct. We try so hard to not hurt anyones feeling and step on anyones beliefs that we are giving up all of ours in the process.

Why do veterans not get veterans day off?

Why is MLK day more improtant than Veterans Day?

Why is it OK to have all of these Black events but not have White events.

Why is it OK to have a Black Congress Caucus but not a White Congress Causcus?

A Negro College fund but not a white college fund?

A Jewish Holliday but we should now call it Winter Holliday instead of Christmas?

If congress takes the day off for a Jewish holiday is that sepperation of church and state?

Why is it so important to sepperate church and state?

Can we not keep "Church" out of government but still keep God in?

Why do I have to push 1 to speak English in the United States of America?

Why do we pay for prisons when they have all that free labor that could be making the    prison self sufficiant?

Would it really be cruel and unusuall punishment for them to grow their own food?

Work in something that would bring in money to pay for their keep?

Debbie is finally understanding why I am so concerned about Obama being president. I think watching "Obsession radical Islam's war on the west" finally did it. It is a movie that shows what is going on in Muslim countries. How the children are taught from an early age to hate the west. That it is honorable to die for their beliefs. The way our government has been trying to force our beliefs on all these other countries I think I can understand why we are hated so. Can you imagine us having foriegn military bases in this country? Do you realize how many bases we have in other countries? Why? Why can't we just let them take care of them selves. Why do we have to pay to keep them secure? Do you really think that it is imparative that  we have all these overseas bases just to keep our country secure? Just think of what we could do with all of the money we spend to keep all of these bases open. Do you have any idea of how much money we spend in payroll to all the foriegners to work on these bases? When I was in Peurto Rico I had to practically beg to drive the semis on base to transport the shipments for the airfield and docks throught the base. Even though I was an Equipment Operator in the SeaBees they thought that that job shoud be done by a local who did not even know how to shift the truck!!

Sorry I will get off of my soap box now.

Wow, you are passionate about it. I am one of the complacent ones in many ways--wall street, ok, but how I am going to pay my mortgage this month is my priority.

I buy into some of the agruements/reasons why we are in different countries with our bases. Mostly there where just in case "reasons" or just to deter the thought of something happening. But I do know and remember the frustration of what the locals got away with on the base and how we were limited off base. For us, in Spain in the 80's there were a lot of security issues, from the Basques, from people that did not like Americas, and after the Librya conflict, we were on such a security threat list for months with bomb threats daily for weeks.

I don't think the founding fathers could have forseen the changes in America and how some things have changed. In their day, the church was in England and they escaped it, to keep their lives, to live free, to keep their possessions, etc. In the past forty years, the civil liberties have become so strong that a few are put higher than others, and the rest of the country's rights have been eliminated. I am not talking about religion, ethnic, race or anything like that--just in general terms. I beleive we all have rights and none of the rights should be abolished. How to make sure everyone's rights are equal is a balancing act that no one even tries to do--it seems like it is based on who screams the loudest.

I know of the past labor gangs, chain gangs in the south. I know of a few of the whispers of how you don't want to go there by the older people in my life when I lived in MS. And of course, all of us have seen movies of the cruelties of some of these prison labor camps--which I think are all wrong, no matter what country they happen in. But I do believe that it is wrong for someone in prison to have more rights, better shelter, more food, than our poor here in our neighborhoods that may be living in the street. I think it is wrong and says so much about our country that the poor will get arrested so they can have a warm place to sleep and a hot meal.

Take care. Tell Debbie I said hi.
