I love animals and the Elderly. I love to crochet, travel, hiking and just being outside. I hope I'll be doing alot of that real soon again. This RA has put alot of the things I love to do on hold.

Hi I am from NZ and just read your posting. Am gobsmacked at the cost of insurance. I got into a discussion on this site with someone who totally supports US private system and is afraid of change. But how can you guys over there afford those sort of costs? We have a similar system to UK here in NZ - pay for doctors but subsidised as you get older/and/or have an ongoing complaint but our prescriptions are cheaper than UK. We also have a parallel private system which deals more with things that people dont want to wait for such as hip replacements but which also do some major stuff. I have a friend who had heart surgery at 91 because the public system refusted her. We looked into private insurance costs years ago and are glad we didnt sign up. My husband had a brain tumour (costs around NZ$35000) which wouldnt have been available privately anyway. Over here insurers keep clawing back what percentage they will pay of doctor and hospital costs so some people have dropped their insurance. Plus the recession of course.
I just wish you all the luck and so hope the US gets some sort of parallel system going but the medical industry (an alien concept to us here) seem to be lobbying against it. My personal opinion is that choice is democratic and rich people can pay to queue jump but the thought of people dying because they cant afford treatment seems barbaric and totally unchristian. I wish you all the luck with this and hope if you have to find work you can get something that pays well and helps.
Good luck with Thanksgiving! You're going to do great!
Big - thanks for the comment. I wish I had the magic wand I could wave on all of you to give you remission...
See you online in a week!

Hi Bigi! Thanks for your response to 'Fun Things to do'!
I really like the idea of the Senior Tours...I wouldn't necessarily want to run them, but it sounds like it would be fun to go on! Plus it would get me out of the house and allow me to meet some new people!
Thanks again and Hugs to you!
What a wonderful "report". Am so happy for you that you are getting relief. I "think" I am almost ready, as the pain has been relentless and I don't know how much more of it I can take. Taking 5 ibuprofren at a time is going to rip a hole in my gut, and barely get any type of relief. Pretty bad when you have to lift your leg out of the car. Thank you, and please keep me posted -- especially, if you notice any side effects, as I guess that is what is keeping me from trying it. I really appreciate you writing and so glad that you are getting your life back, congrats!
Still having some Hot flashes, but not so much anymore. I am on Bio Identical Hormones. Take Estrogen and Progesterone Cream . I have been taken the Progesterone cream for 1 year or so now and just started on Estrogen, because I have read that it also may help the bones, and any kind of form of Arthritis inc. RA. Mostly though good for controlling mood and Hot Flashes.
I WAS DIAGNOSED IN DEC'08. I FEEL BETTER NOW THAN WHEN I FIRST WAS DIAGNOSED. I DO YOGA, SWIM. I AM A LITTLE CONFUSED SOMETIMES IN WHAT TO TAKE AS FAR AS THE SWELLING IS CONCERNED. I DO HAVE THAT TO DEAL WITH, NOT MUCH PAIN JUST SWELLING IN KNEE.
