I am the wife of a 52 year old man who has syringomyelia. He was diagnosed with it when he was 26 years old. We Dairy farmed in Wisconsin all our married life actually building our farm from scratch and paying for it all. Also raised 3 wonderful children. It was not easy having my husband having almost useles hands and becoming very weakend, but he kept active which I think was a good thing. Now in 2006 he had a fall on our farm, (just tripped in the yard) but it left him having trouble walking. He was in a hospital and was doing quite well when a blood clot hit his heart. They intebated him and since then he has been a quadropelegic and needs 24 hour care. He is in a nursing home.
