My dad has parkinson...I feel ya

Sorry to hear that you're so stressed. AD sucks to say the least. My mom is 5 of six sisters and the third one to have AD. She still lives at her home w/ my 91 y.o. father who is sharp as a tack. My 78 y.o. aunt lives w/ them and runs the house basically. Mom's moods are good right now...she's in the middle of the middle stage. I have professional experience with AD as well-- I'm a speech therapist and have previously worked in home health and n. homes. Seems to me that you can do one of a few things. Be assertive w/ the brother who lives w/ your dad and the other siblings-- REQUIRE (in a nice way) help from them, don't ask for it. Even if it's only a few hours a week from each of them. I would do what the lady on the forum suggested re: Hospice-- at least call and see if he meets any requirement. And ask the Hospice folks for leads on what to do. there comes a time when you have to consider yourself before you consider your father in regard to having someone in the house. Learn to lie well...seriously. Ex: My mom thinks that this woman that comes in twice a month to give my aunt a respite is ONLY a cleaning lady because that's what we want her to believe. The anger may be related to the need for a med change. Hang in there and as my friend always says "Take care of you." Translation: If you don't take good care of you, you wont' be of adequate service to anyone else. Write anytime. queenie
