Wow! I'm amazed at how much better my butt feels already! The surgery truly was a piece of cake- took about 30 min. . I woke up in no pain. My surgeon is such a sweetheart- he, the nurse and anesthesiologist were all so upbeat and reassuring. I wish that this had been done weeks ago.... I'm amazed first by how much a fissure hurts- and evenmore amazed that going in and cutting it out- and cuttting the sphincter muscle can actually make it feel SOOOOO much better. I had a bm this morning- and while it wasn't pain free, it was more comfortable than what I had been suffering through. Today I have a little of that post-anesthesia hang-over... but it's minor. They used propofol- no naseau and you wake up very quick.
I've always wanted to ask my surgeon (he's a colon and rectal specialist) why he chose his proffession- I guess the post anesthesia glow gave me the courage...I prefaced that question with, I know you must get asked this alot... and his answer was, "I do my best work by moonlight" and "I like to look up old friends".
Teh ride home was the only part that was uncomfortable... and that had alot to do with the dressing-the packing (ugg-it's right where you are imagining) and the fact that the ride was over an hour...
Glad it's done- hope this time I'm truly on my way to recovery.
Hugs,
Kelly
