    • About Me

Instead of comparing yourself to the outsides of others, concentrate on what you want to accomplish, improvements that you have made, what you've changed for the better and the goals you want achieve. Don't compare your insides to anyone's outside persona. I originally joined DS for weight loss support. It’s been tough working on my weight loss goal(s). At first I was just here for weight loss ideas and support. I started using Little Black Book-Daily Food Diary to record what I eat because Kaiser Permanente and Dr. Sanjay Gupta say that using a food diary can double your weight loss efforts and it does work! But, I have found so much more here on DS. I appreciate the experience and opinions other people have. It’s a pleasure to be here. So, take what you need and leave the rest. Also, it is really hard for me to share my personal statistics...maybe I am just being old school, but that is me. I was born in Texas and now live in California. I am a Navy Mom and former Navy wife. I am VERY proud of my son who is now 20 and living his dream. He is stationed aboard an air craft carrier. He loves what he is doing and is enjoying the adventure. On 9/11 we watched the planes hit the twin towers, one on live TV. We sat in front of the TV and we both new this was something to go to war over. He was 12 and he set his plan in motion that day when he said, "Mom, I wish I was in the military now so I could help them." He was already in Scouts and in the Navy League Sea Cadets and became a Chief. He worked his plan and is now stationed on the carrier he set his sights on exactly where he dreamed all those many years ago. When he is deployed I miss him, however, we have e-mail which saves the day! It doesn't replace a hug from him, but, it will do. Take care and hang in there!

I like cruising along the so-cal beaches and seeing that beautiful scenery with the waves and the palm trees. The weather is usually great (I do miss the rain and thunder, it does not thunder when it rains here. When it does rain, it is a short rain and very light.) Now that I live in a house I can garden! Love it! Planted a Meyer lemon tree, Mexican lime tree and a Valencia orange tree. Also, yellow squash, patty pans, corn (white and red), bell peppers, jalapenos, cubanelles, cukes, snow peas, tomatoes, okra, watermelon, pumpkins, strawberries, potatoes (russet & blue), carrots (orange and purple!) lol just because I can! It is blooming like crazy. I planted an Australian Tree Fern and a Bird of Paradise. Also an orange Hibiscus and pink Camelia (which the rabbits are ravaging). Spread some orange Poppy seeds and Butter Cups. I enjoy internet research. I like problem solving. Going on short trips around California.

Thank you. Today is deployment day...worse day of my life. I went out looking for a job yesterday...handed out 6 resume's to Dr.'s offices. That made me feel better. Headed to replace my stereo in the car and to decorate the boyfriend's house this weekend. Anything to stay busy! LOL
In a full run! Hope you are feeling OK today:-) Will catch up later...promise!

Thank you for the support! I'm in the new apt. I got about halfway unpacked but am now in deep depression. This all sucks! I also need a job, unemployed for over a year and money is almost gone. Going to have to let my credit go bad since I bailed on the other apts. and have an office lease I signed in a manic moment for a teeth whitening business I started! Good luck with the search!

    • Open GERD & Heartburn

Have trouble w/lettuce/cilantro/basil leaves? I figured it out by keeping a daily food diary. Even after my daily dose of Prilosec or Aciphex they cause acid to squirt up my esophagus. I’ve almost drowned in it. Esp cilantro! Then comes a Tums, Mylanta, Gaviscon, GasEx cocktail calms it down. Sometimes I have to take another Prilosec, which can't be good. The next day is a nightmare as you can imagine. I also have a hiatal hernia. Its a bummer not being able to have a nice salad!

      Treatments

      Aciphex Working / Worked
Worked great for a while then went back to Prilosec.
Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
By using a daily food diary I found out that fresh lettuce, CILANTRO and basil (dried ok) cause acid to literally squirt up my esophagus and into my lungs four hours later...big bummer, then the Tums, Mylanta, Gaviscon cocktail must be applied and that takes another four hours to get to sleep. I also have a hiatal hernia, however.
      Dietary Modification Working / Worked
If you eat something fatty take MultiEnzyme after you ate the offending food.
      Nexium Working / Worked
      Prilosec Working / Worked
Works great, the tomach pain it causes is like a hunger pang but only last a couple of days then you are good to go.
Raising Bed Position Working / Worked
I now only raise my pillow slightly and support my neck.
    • Open Migraine Headaches

I am curious about Migraines. I only get them from low baromteric pressure. I thought it was a food allergy, but, after keeping a daily food diary I found it ws weather related bycause I used to note when it rained because it NEVER rains in Southern California.

The loss of my Mom and my little sister to cervical cancer from DES that my mother was given in the 50s. It is a process that takes time...usually several years. Medication can really confuse the process or delay it...it will help those that cannot function normally, but proceed with extreme caution as it changes your personality.
