I finally sold my townhouse on October 8th. After much negotiation and not really knowing whether the buyer's lender was going to loan them the money to buy, it finally closed. FHA became really hard to deal with--they picked on little things and seemed to try to avoid lending my buyers the money to buy the house. I didn't know until less than a day before closing if it would actually be sold. I had to move out very quickly--the whole transaction happened in about 3 weeks. Fortunately I had been packing to move the whole time, so moving was easier than it otherwise might have been. I interviewed movers, got quotes, decided on a mover and signed a contract with them. It would have been better if I had had more time for this. On October 2, six days before my target moving date, I got a call from the company wanting to go over the list of items I was moving. They gave me a new estimate which was $1500 higher and made me sign another contract. I was very unhappy with this but felt I had no choice but to sign it since there was now no time to negotiate with another moving company. I was told that my final amount would be determined by the actual weight, not the estimate. At this point, I was still expecting to move on October 8, or possibly on the 7th, but I was not given a firm date. On Friday, October 3, I called them and was told the carrier would contact me over the weekend. I received no call, but on Monday, October 6 at about 11:00 am, I got a call from the carrier saying that they were on their way to pick up my belongings. I told them that I wasn't supposed to move until Tuesday at the earliest. They said they just wanted to come and inventory what I had, and possibly load up what was ready to go, and come back on Tuesday morning. This is not what happened. As time passed and I was frantically packing and in terrible pain from being on my feet so long, it became apparent that they were determined to pack up before they left, and not wait until Tuesday as I was told. When I asked when my belongings would be delivered, I was told I could receive them on Sunday, October 12, as I requested. It is now October 21, and I still do not yet have my belongings. The company has given me several delivery dates, none of which has been honored. They have told me the trailer is broken and is in the shop being repaired. I have been unable to even find out where my things are--city, state, etc. I am extremely angry and in a lot of pain since I have severe back pain and arthritis and I have been sleeping on the floor for over a week due to not having a bed.
