I went to see my neurosurgeon on Monday (8/11) with my new lumbar MRI. It is not news that I have more than one type of problem. I guess it was a bit of a shock to be told that my increased pain is real and my condition has indeed gotten worse in the past year. I have had two epidurals, one facet block and one facet rhizotomy, and none have helped at all. I have tried a number of different meds, but because of allergies and bad side effects, I have only been able to tolerate low-dose Vicodin (5/500) for daytime and MS contin 15 Mg ER at night. It's better than nothing, but just barely. My neurosurgeon wants to do a laminectomy on L3-L5--he says the discs are compressed to the inside of my spinal column creating pressure on the spinal cord. I know I need to do this, but I'm just not sure how to manage it.
