Just a Story Mood
Thursday, August 20, 2009
This is actually a neat story in a weird way, so don't get sad.  Last Tues. we had decided to put Arlo "to sleep" because he had been so sick with his asthma/allergies.  The doc. told us that we had to give him pills to make him better, but we had already tried everything to give this cat pills and he just would not take them.  The vet even had said that he was hard to pill.  They wanted us to give him 8 pills a day for 3 days, 6 pills a day for 30 days and then 3 pills a day for the rest of his life!  We were freaking out about it because we knew that we couldn't do it.  Once in a while he would eat one if we put it in some food that he likes, but the vet said that we couldn't miss one pill and if we did we would have to take him in to have them give him a shot.  They told us our other option would be to give him an inhaler which was expensive and I KNEW that that would stress Arlo out more than trying to give him pills.  Well, anyway I made the choice to put him down because I was feeling like it was the best thing to do for us and for him.  The appt. was for 5 that day and I had been bawling all day long and it was just terrible.  I felt that I had not prayed hard enough or something.  I even had LOTS of other people praying for him.  I didn't understand.  2 hrs before 5 we got a phone call from the vet saying that they could give him a shot every month of the medicine and that he would only charge us 30 dollars!  I was pissed, but also relieved!  Why didn't they just tell us that in the begining?  They only told us that they could give him a 24 hr shot!  God answered my prayer though and I am glad.  We gave Arlo the shot and he is doing better now.

OH! I'm so happy you didn't have to put Arlo down! Bless your heart. I don't have a clue why the vet couldn't have said that before! I don't blame you for being pissed! You endured a lot! I'm so happy everything worked out, and just in time too! I hope you are in better spirits!! Love ya!! Katey xxxx
