I have finally done it! I sat down a few days ago, and wrote a letter to the "College of Veterinarians of Ontario",. The letter was a complaint regarding the negligence of the vet responsible for my dog Carson having to be put to sleep in June. He diagnosed him with "kidney disease", when in fact it was an infection in his mouth probably caused by a bad tooth. It was 8 months of meds for his kidneys as well as a change of diet. He suffered terrible with this infection that I had no idea he had. The smell was horrible, but the vet kept telling me it was his kidneys. Anyhow, to make a long story shorter, I took Carson to the groomer who discovered the infection. Of course I made an emergency visit to another vet who confirmed her diagnoses. Without going into details, it was only a matter of a few days before I had to put Carson to rest. I still cannot believe this has happened. I am so depressed at times, that it is hard to get up some mornings. Unfortunately I have to get up as I have 3 other beautiful dogs who need me. I love them dearly, but I still miss Carson with all my heart. The main reason that I decided to put in a complaint about the vet is that I do not want this to happen to someone else's beloved pet. It is hard enough when you lose an animal for any other reason, but it is unbearable when it could have been prevented. I really do not expect anything to come out of this, but I am doing this for Carson and all the other animals. Carson would have been 15 on Dec 3rd. I always made him a steak which he shared with his 2 brothers and sister on his BD. It will be a very sad day come Dec 3rd.
