    • About Me

Hi, I am so very happily married to a great guy who has supported my poor health from day one. We have a teenage son and the sweetest little dog you could ever meet. She is my baby & she's always by my side when pain decides to surface. I'm hoping to communicate with others that share the same experiences that I have (my husband listens but he doesn't know where I'm coming from sometimes) & because I'm limited physicaly this is the best way for me.

I am an aspiring song writer...on good days I can finish a song in the same day. I also love karaoke..I love it so much that I have a system installed in surround sound so when I feel like singing strong I can sing my heart out. I use both song writing & karaoke as pain control for the minor pain because they distract the mind from the pain, & the less pain meds I take the better I always say. :0)

Thanks I will do that. I do have a question though---- are you on any medicines? I was on elmiron but was taken off as my hair was falling out. I am trying to get off that nerve pill but I will have to do it slowly. How has your IC been the past few years? does it get better? Laura

    • Close Endometriosis

Endometriosis is nothing new to me, I have been down this road before. I have had my fair share of treatments, been the lab rat for experimental drugs, & had to turn to surgeries as a last resort. In addition to the Endo I also have moderate Interstitial Cystitis, complex migraines, scar tissue, & a tortuous colon with a little bit of IBS.. the only disease I had & can say is gone for good is the Adenomyosis..that left with my uterus that day. :0) I try to take it one day at a time. :0)

      Treatments

      Surgery Working / Worked
Had a hysterectomy w/ both ovaries left in that confirmed I had Adenomyosis (which explained the debiliating cramps) it bought me a little bit of time & I was pain free for about 15 months but living w/ pain & constant diarrhea took a toll on my life again so I went in for surgery #2 which confirmed scar tissue from the 1st surgery was tangled up in a knot around my left tube, ovary,& intestine. It seems my main enemy is scar tissue so surgery seems to work in the beginning but only for so long.
    • Close Interstitial Cystitis (IC)

I have had moderate IC for about 8 yrs now. I've been on treatment & had nerve injections but both failed to bring any pain relief..now I'm taking my pain meds as I need them. Consuming liquids is complete torture weather my bladder is full, half full or even empty.. I'm lucky just to drink a glass of water in a day anything more & I'll suffer for it later on that night. I don't have the frequency..its the pain..that sharp searing pain that you know you can't stop from coming.

      Treatments

      Baking Soda Not Working
worked for the first few times but stopped soon after.
      Elmiron Not Working
      did not work
      Hydromorphone Not Working
effected my breathing too much so I'm back to taking Percocet
      Pets Working / Worked
Peachy is there for me all the time curled up next to me on the really bad days where I have to lie in bed to the few good days that I have. She makes me feel so loved & I honestly dont know what I would do without her.
    • Open Migraine Headaches

Complex Migraines 7/07- Awoke to room spinning right & left, couldn't move off the bathroom floor & got sick several times. EMTs broke a window to get in & I was admited 4 days w/ the worst migraine. At home I remained dizzy, nausiated, no tolorance to motion, light, heat or sun & had a sleep mask to travel. These migraines never disapated until 3 months later. I can't tolerate heat & sun these are triggers for a migraine & I'm deathly alergic to Aspartame.

      Treatments

      Acupuncture Considering
I may look into this if meds continue to loose strength-
Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
Aspartame almost killed me so I read lables closely now- migraines have also resulted from Splenda or artificial sweetners and must avoid caffeine as well-
      Caffeine Not Working
      Makes the migraine worse
      Excedrin Not Working
      Did not work for me-
      Imitrex Not Working
      Did not work for me-
      Topamax Not Working
      No relief what so ever
      Verapamil Somewhat Helpful
It seems to be working because I no longer wake up with a migraine but Ive had to go up to a higher dosage last week
      Frova Not Working
Worked when I got out of the hospital for about 4 months but it no longer has an effect
      Elavil Somewhat Helpful
I no longer wake up in the middle of my sleep with a migraine anymore
      Oxycodone Somewhat Helpful
Sometimes I can take a quarter of my pain pill to knock it out only if Im inside if outside in heat or sun it wont work
