    • Close Osteoporosis

I'm a 60 year old teacher with a history of osteoporosis. I've been on Fosamax for 5 years and diagnosed with the disease. On April 17, 2008, I fell at school fracturing my right hip. It was a nondisplaced fracture so 3 pins were surgically implanted at the femur neck. Next week will be 12 weeks of non weightbearing. I am staying positive, but the summer is quickly going by and I want to start back to school in August. I'm not sure that will be an option as slow as this is going. The doctor (as of last visit) feels that I will be slow in healing, but I will heal. Possible bone death is my next worry.

      Treatments

      Positive Thinking Working / Worked
I am surprising myself with how positive I have been throughout this ordeal.
      Forteo Working / Worked
After 5 years of Fosamax and now a broken hip I have just completed my first month of Forteo with no side effects so far.
