    • About Me

53 y.o., DWF, single mother, two daughters. Need to work full time, live in Brooklyn, nice area, but monster rent and a tight pocket as of late. Normally a bright, warm, funny woman but I will admit that lately I have been feeling very isolated and very 'blue' about my life. The recent DX has put me in a major funk which I am trying to crawl out of.

    • Close Hepatitis C

It begins in January 2008 - on a quest to lose weight I went gong ho on a diet/exercise - swam 3X wk; gym 2x week; increased walking, strict 1200-1500 cal daily diet, in 9 weeks, I didn't drop a pound. So I was referred to an endo, I did have some odd thyroid readings, but she suspected it was not thyroid but liver disease so she ran the test. After being pummelled with a host of other health problems after 911 (allergies, skin discoloring, developed COPD, vestibularitis and a major panic disorder) I still wasn't ready for the positive blood test for HepC - a shocker. No history of injected drugs, but I did have a transfusion in 1976 when I had my first child - 11 units were transfused. Now I am hoping to avoid the rigors of treatment and I'm looking forward to protecting my liver and my general health. I still feel alive and vital and want to resume a normal life, hopefully find someone to grow old with and also I want to be around to see my daughters grow into young women and hopefully have a grandchild someday?!!

      Treatments

      Writing Somewhat Helpful
started to keep a journal. Adding vitamin therapy eating more healthy recording my feelings.
      Meditation Considering
Would love to investigate meditation and possibly acunpuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine rather than poisoning the body with chemo drugs.
      Advair Working / Worked
Works very well for the asthmaCOPD but I have put on SEVENTY pounds in 6 years.
      Aciphex Working / Worked
trying to cut this drug down though it works well for GERD. So would some weight loss from what I have been told by GI doc.
      Zyrtec Working / Worked
      Great for allergies!
      Xanax Somewhat Helpful
The xanax takes the edge off the dizziness caused by the panic disorder but not entirely. I still cannot cross a two way street without feeling like Im going to pass out. Maybe I need dose increase but doctor quite reluctant to comply with that request.
