Here is a bit about me and the events that have unfolded in my life that led me to this website.

I will pray for you and for your situation. I can understand what you are going through. My son was given an IEP in 1st grade at a really good elementary school. Well, they still failed my son because they found him too slow, but too smart for the program...so go figure. One of the best tools you could use is scholastic phonics books available to you on their website. Also, by keeping a good collection of Dr. Seuss books and repeating the stories over and over again, she will learn to read. The phonics game is expensive, but a great tool as well. There are so many other phonics tools you can find at www.rainbowresource.com. Read my profile, and I would encourage you to homeschool her until she is able to read....who knows by that time, you both may not want to change that special bond you've created home schooling at home! mtap4sp

    • Close Family Issues

My niece whom was my special little sweet pea from birth moved in with us due to a bad home life. After many months of trying to adjust to our home she acused my husband of sexual abuse to get out of our home. He was found innocent (as I knew he was), but now I struggle with the loss of my niece when she isn't really gone. She physically harmed my 18 month old also. It is hard for me to see family members interact with her(like they believe her and not us). I am hurt and angry & I miss her.

      Treatments

      Family Therapy Somewhat Helpful
Due to financial issues (related to this situation) I was not able to continue to go. It was a great help while going.
      Talking Somewhat Helpful
When it is done in a positive (proactive) manner this is very helpful to me. Although, many times it ends up in negative unproduction conversation.
    • Close Homeschooling

I have homeschooled my niece who lived with us and I homeschooled my daughter for 1/2 of K and all of 1st. I hope to send her back to private school this year. But am nervous of finances. I refuse to send her to public school.

    • Open Immunizations

My oldest daughter who is 6 has had all her immunizations. She had no issues, however, my youngest who is 3 was given her first set at about 12 months and she completely stopped speaking. I could only relate it to the immunizations. So I have not given her any more. She is now 3.5 and is doing well. I don't plan on giving immunizations at all.

    • Open Infertility, Secondary

It took over a year to get pregnant with my first. I was told due to hormonal issues as well as other female anatomy concerns that it would be difficult, if not impossible, to get pregnant. I had a cervical surgery (due to cervical cancer)in 2000 and was encouraged by my MD to start trying due to the surge of regrowth with my cervic it might aid in conception. 1 year later we were pregnant. It took 3 years longer to have my 2nd. I couldn't take the emotional toll and had my tubes tied.

      Treatments

      Basal Thermometer Somewhat Helpful
I didn't have a regular cycle so it was hard to tell if it was actual readings. I could go 6 months without a period. So I didn't know if a temp fluxuation meant I had a common cold or was ovulating.
      Ovulation Predictor Kit Somewhat Helpful
Without having a regular cycle it was too expensive to continue with buying these kits.
    • Open Migraine Headaches

I have struggled with migraines since the onset of puberty. I did not have one migraine while I was pregnant (2 times) and find they are brought on by a few different issues. Some foods, bright lights at night, scents, strange frequency levels, and of course any pressure to my face (good thing I don't wear glasses).

      Treatments

Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
      Excedrin Working / Worked
if it isn't to big and I get it quick enough.
      Imitrex Not Working
Window of opportunity to small to be helpful.
    • Open Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

I have my post about this in my journal (not sure if you can see that or not) and I have it in a family issues post. I would rather not retype.

      Treatments

      Psychotherapy Working / Worked
It was helpful while I was able to utilize it. Finances made it so I had to stop.
      Talking Working / Worked
As long as it was positive and didn't lead to negative talk this was helpful.
