Hi Everyone.
Hope that you have all had a good week and are looking forward to the weekend. The weather here is suppose to be warm and pretty so hope that you can all get out and enjoy it. As for me I have no plans right now. I can't believe how fast this year has gone. On Monday November 9 it will be my 2 year anniversary of this terrible diagnosis and I plan to celebrate since the first oncologist had said that I wouldn't make it a year. Guess she isn't that smart after all! Only GOD knows how far I am to go on this journey. It won't be much of a celebration since I have chemo, but have thought about baking a cake and taking to the nurses.
I had chemo Monday this was the first day of the second cycle. This is the part that takes about 8 hours to give due to the large amount of fluid that they have to give to protect the kidney's. They also found that my Magnesium level was low so that added an hour. We got started around 9AM and finished after 5pm. Monday was also the evening for the cancer support groups at IU, dinner is from 5-6pm then groups are from 6-7:30pm. Since we were there and I was feeling OK (just a little waterlogged) my aunt and I stayed. After that we had to make a stop at the store as I had to pick up a prescription and a few other things so we finally made it home around 9pm. I was exhausted and went to bed shortly after getting home. Unfortunately it was a very bad night for me. I was up and down to the bathroom to get rid of all the fluid and for some reason I was having a lot of pain and nausea. This one has seemed to have hit me a lot harder then the first round. The nausea and pain have stuck around all week. The pain is where the mass is on the left side and the Dr seems to think that it is the chemo beating up on the mass. That sounds good to me so I will try and tolerate it. I'm starting to feel better of course it is almost time to go back for part 2 of the chemo on Monday. Monday I only get one of the drugs and not as much fluid so I should only be there about 2 hours and I have asked for the anti-nausea drugs since I had such severe nausea with this one on round one. That is all that is on my calendar for next week. I skip the following week no chemo until Nov. 23 and I also see the Oncologist that day so it will be a pretty late one again. So the week of Nov. 16 I only have one day booked up and that is Wednesday Nov. 18 I have a dentist appointment at 9am then at 11:30am an insurance agent will be out to talk to me about Medicare supplement then at 1pm I have an appointment with my primary Dr and so does my aunt so we will be getting home late again. The rest of the week is open. Not sure what we are going to do for Thanksgiving yet. Hopefully I will be feeling better by the end of that week.
Well that's about all that is going on with me. Hope that you are all well and look forward to hearing from you.
Love and Hugs to you all
Kathy
