Well,what a day I have had.........
It was the day of the Chronic Pain Clinic appointment,the one that I had been waiting and waiting for,the one I had to fight for......
SO.....I had mixed emotions about it and wasn't allowing myself to get my hopes up(after the last apt with the rhumey!)
When we arrived all the staff seemed very pleasant and I was seen pretty quickly(hate to be kept waiting!)so that was a positive for them.
I was taken to an examination room and a very freindly nurse chatted with me and ran through a couple of forms etc.....
I had to get changed into a(hmmmm really attractive )gown,and wait for the consultant to come chat with me.
When he turned up he was a nice enough chap,his first sentance was "Hi " shook my hand(Very gently)then said"So you have fibromyalgia" and went through all the same things again examined me head to foot, and then went through my meds and decided that he could change them a wee bit and see how we go with that and then we can consider the rest!!He will write to my GP explaining all this to make sure that I get the required support from her,
He then introduced me to the most wonderful woman,Jackie,who is wait for it..........she is their fibromyalgia specialist nurse!!!!!!!!! and she is wonderful and I am soooo lucky and soooo grateful to have met her,I think she may prove to be one of my saviours through all this,she said that fibro is an awful thing and she knows that our pain is very real and she has been working in this area for years and most importantly to me,when I burst into tears(more of releif than anything)she hugged me(gently)But she gave me a tissue and she HUGGED me.(I can feel myself welling up just telling you about it!).
Well I have been refered to the ongoing pain clinic and they are starting a pilot self management group thing which she has refered me to also.
So despite my negative feelings at the start of the day all in all it really turned out well.
THANK YOU fate as you meant me to meet this person and now I have I eagerly await the next step in the process.
WOW, I actually feel quite positive this evening,totally wiped out,but positive!!!!!!!!!!

oh juiceey!!!! thank the lord!!!!!! i am so thrilled for you!!!! isnt it amazing when someoen says that they believe you? i had the same experiendce, crying uncontrollably.... God bless hon you are on theright road now, i think. love ya

I'm so glad that this turned out well for you. we ARE conditioned to expect the worst.....not much help out there for us FMers, but it looks like God opened a door for you. Good luck, and keep us updated on your treatment.
