My daddy died from Stage IV Liver Cancer this week. Mood
Sunday, October 25, 2009 | A Painful story
October 23, 2009
Dear Dad,
We discovered that the doctors diagnosed you with Stage IV Liver Cancer when all we thought you had was perhaps the flu that day in this past May when taking you to the Duke ER.

Michael and I knew in hearts you would come home with us to let us take care of you through this cruel cancer.

We gladly opened our home and love to you and with the assistance of the Wake County Hospice team we took very good care of you during the next few months.

I am so very proud of my husband, Michael for his love, devotion and extremely good care of you Dad! We love you so very much and were so happy to have you with us during this time.
I thank God for allowing me to be by your side when you took your last breath. I thank God for you and Mom for being my parents.

I told you it was ok to go home to Heaven to be with Mom and to see your parents and family, but to please always look over us.

Tomorrow morning we will be attending your services, Miltary with full honors just as you requested.

We love you so very much!

Terilyn

That is beautiful. I'm sure it made you feel good to say all those wonderful things to your dad, that perhaps you couldn't say since he was diagnosed. I was by my dad's side the last week of his life, in a hospital, but he had been in a nursing home prior to that. I too, told my dad it was OK to go to heaven. How freeing is that? You have a lot of emotions ahead of you, but you will make it. God bless you.

    Thank you chefpatti,
I appreciate your uplifting message. Yes, you are right...it will be an emotional rollercoaster for me. I already miss him very much. Now I have no parents. I feel so alone, though I do have a very supportive husband.
    Regards,
    Terilyn
