      Your post so similar to mine, it's funny. Only difference, I do take meds for anziety and have recently joined AA.A martini sounds really great, but AA is much better choice. My sincere hope for you is growth in spirituality and acknowledgement of problem. Looking forward to hearing from you.

      I want to quit the daily cocktail hour habit. I've tried reducing it to once or twice a week but it (alcohol) is still in my life and I think about it a lot. I have self diagnosed general anxiety disorder and I elect not to take any meds for it as I don't believe in them and 'think they do more harm than good in the long run. So I self medicate myself with my nightly martini's.

      Treatments

      Cold Turkey Not Working
      No, it hasn't been working.
      Meditation Somewhat Helpful
      Im not faithful to my meditationprayer practice it does help for a while afterwards but not lasting. Maybe I should do it 2 or 3 times per day.
      Positive Thinking Not Working
      Im a negative thinker by nature and it seems impossible to overcome it.
      Willpower Not Working
      Nope, I don't have much of that. I get anxious and my will power caves in. If everything is perfect in my life at that particular time and I can go 4 or 5 days with no booze but by that time something will come up that makes me anxious and I will start again.
    • Close Anxiety

      Life long "anxieotic," try to survive from day to day with exercise, meditation, positive thinking, homeopathy, Chinese herbs. Most important thing is to KEEP MY MIND occupied.

      Treatments

      Acupuncture Working / Worked
      Pretty good - helps for a while until I go again.
      Breathwork Working / Worked
      One of the best things I do - count each inhalation and exhalation - try to only inhale when you really need to and not when your body seems to WANT to as it will cut down on hyperventilating.
      Hypnotherapy Working / Worked
      Very good, also, I have a tape that was made just for me and it always relaxes me
      Positive Thinking Working / Worked
      I try but it doesn't seem to work for me.
      Running Working / Worked
      I love to run that is I love to FINISH running... and feel awful on the days I cant like lately as it is just too cold and icy here.
