My Cancer Journey
Hi,
I'm not very good with a computer, but I would like to know if anyone else out there still has an elevated CA125. …
I have ovarian cancer and have been in treatment since last August. My cancer was in stage 3 when it was discovered. I had four Chemo treatments before surgery and have had a total of 11 Chemos. My CA 125 is still at 61.5, so my cancer is still active. I have lost 20 pounds over this past year. I see the doctor on Tues. the 24th and most likely will have more Chemo. I am 78 years old. I would like to know if anyone has gone through what I have. Thanks.

Hi,

Just know that I am thinking of you and hoping that you are feeling better soon. We are all here for you my friend... Michelle
You have had so much chemo for such a long time that I believe you must have a lot to tell us about staying positive.. My doctors want me to stop after this one which would be 9x taxol and 8x carbo. given in 9 sessions, with three week in between.. They feel that this is as much as they want to give me without a long rest and I am anxious that the CA125 wont be down to normal and also anxious about needing more chemo, as it is becoming increasingly more difficult to tolerate.. Thankfully I have a great team of doctors and, no doubt, will do whatever they think is best. I will be thinking of you on 8th and wishing for the best from your scan.. my chemo is on 9th.. About being positive.. I think that making the decision that you want to be takes you along way towards being that way.. Not easy to keep it up all the time especially as you get physically worn down with treatments ect.. For me it's been about consciously making an effort to notice the good things around me, which can get ignored when we are focussed on problems.. also about creating opportunities for better things.. enjoying all that I can.. sometimes it can be just finding something funny on the tv or pampering myself.. small things are important... finally.. knowing when things are difficult and I am feeling negative to remind myself that this time will pass and that I will feel better.. Exhaustion and chemo side effects can bring on the blues and sometimes there is nothing to do but to try to sleep it off.. to eat well.. rest loads and wait for it to pass whilst we build up our strength.. Hope this is useful advice.. I've been a bit glum for a couple of weeks now, with other issues than OC pulling me down as well.. knowing it will pass has helped and I am beginning to crawl out of there.. I will be wishing for the best from your scan on 8th and hope that you are able to have long enough break from treatment to feel strong and well.. Loads of love and hugs to you xxx
Hi.. though all our stories are all different we have much in common here. Lots of wonderful women coping and surviving with OC. They have been a huge support to me and a great bunch of friends. I am having chemo for a recurrence after 6 1/2 years in remission and I am now stage three. I have one more treatment and three CA125 results to come, the last CA125 was 95. I'm pretty exhausted at the moment and can't wait to get the last chemo behind me and to have some proper recovery time. You must be exhausted too after everything. I hope you find this place as useful as I have.. We are all here for you and can understand things about this damned cancer/chemo business that no-one else can. Wishing and hoping for the best for you.. Inka xxx

Please know that you are not alone and that we are all here with you and for you. I can't say I have been through what you are going through but I did have ovarian cancer. So I am here for you anytime you need to talk. Michelle
