About Me
I have 4 children. Three daughters and a son. I lost my oldest daughter in September of 05 to heart desease. I miss her dearly. I also have 4 grandchildren. Three granddaughters and a grandson! My children and grandchildren are the light of my life. I have a wonderful father who is also a great help to me! He is 88 years old. He's been the best man in my life! I'm grateful to the Lord for bringing them all into my life!

Doing ok,Had a good Halloween.Had surgery on my shoulder again back on Sept.14 th Still having alot of pain with it.Going to Physical Therapy 3 days a week.Keeping busy.And we're going to my Dad'a for Thanksgiving.Jackie

When I finally stopped smoking(after 3rd try) I got up & walked around whenever I wanted one. Also took a shower or washed my face.Hang in there.It IS possible :)HUGS****

Close Fibromyalgia
I've had Fibromyalgia since 1991. Later on I got osteo arthritis. I was treated with Elavil for several years but was taken off it because the practitioner didn't like the medication because of how it effects the brain. I take Celebrex and Neurontin for pain. I've tried physical therapy and massages which didn't help! I suffer from Chronic fatigue which walks hand in hand with Fibro. I do not work because of my condition. I also am being treated for depression. The Fibro causes a lot of the depression. The medication that I take helps take the edge off the pain but I also supplement with Extra Strength Tylenol. I have a difficult time standing and walking for long periods of time. I even get tired of holding myself up being on the computer. I don't get out much because of the fatigue and pain. I do try to get out as much as I can like shopping, errands, visiting friends and family. I recently went to see Disney on Ice at a local entertainment center. Hope to make new friends here!

Close Depression
Type: Clinical (Major) DepressionI was first depressed in 1983 when I was separated from my husband and left with 4 children to raise on my own. I was treated with Psychotherapy and medication. It really didn't help that much at that time. I started to get better on my own and I started a job as a nursing assistant and a med tech. I worked 5 years with out any problems but in 1991 I had a relaspe which was worse than the first time. I was severely depressed and had delusions. I'm stable now but I'm still having ups and downs!
Treatments
- Elavil Somewhat Helpful
- I took Elavil with other anti depressant medications. I was actually taking it for pain because I have fibromyalgia.
- Paxil Working / Worked
- No longer take it. It caused a blunt affect in my personality. Should have listened to side affects...
- Positive Thinking Working / Worked
- Thinking positive gives me a better out look on life. If you focus on the good things you can't focus on the bad because you can't pay attention to more than one thing at once.
- Prozac Not Working
- I was bouncing off the walls with this medication. It made me very anxious!
- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- I found Psychotherapy very helfful. It gave me hope and encouragement! I stopped because my therapist quit and I haven't had another since then. I'm seeking therapy again
- Wellbutrin Working / Worked
- It's great! I take 3 a day along with paxil. They work wonders.
- Writing Working / Worked
- Keeping a journal is a great way to get your feelings out so that you don't get overwhelmed with sadness.
Open Heart Failure
I had congestive heart failure in 1999. I was in the hospital for 4 days. I have been being treated by my cardiologist since then. With the help of God and my medications my condition has improved. I take stress test every 3-4 years. My last one showed a blockage but when I went for a cardiac catherization there was no blockages! My cardiologist found it "odd" I considered it a miracle! I'm on 3 blood pressure medications which keeps it under control. I also take Lasix.Condition is stable now.

- Lasix has helped me to breath better since it helped me to lose a lot of fluid.
- Captopril Working / Worked
- It is working with the support of two other medications for blood pressure.
- Metoprolol Working / Worked
- I also needed this medication to help lower blood pressure.
- Norvasc Working / Worked
- This is the one that brought my blood pressure down to normal...
Open Diabetes Type 2
I was just diagnosed with diabetes about a month and a half ago. Taking Metformin which has it under control.

- I've been on Metformin about a month and a half. It's helping! Levels run under 125 the past couple of weeks so far.
Open Smoking Addiction & Recovery
I smoked ever since I was 16. I am now 55 and I quit 5 days ago. I was in the hospital to have a biopsy done on a cyst in my kidney. Prior to that I thought that it might be cancer. The biopsy showed that it wasn't but I still needed to stay in the hospital to have antibiotics administered through and IV. While I was there over night they gave me the nicotine patch. When I left the hospital the doctor gave me a script for the patch and I filled it.

- Laughter is always the best medicine! Keep hopeful!
- Wellbutrin Working / Worked
- I've been taking Wellbutrin for many years but never used it to quit smoking. I've been taking it for depression. It's working with the patch, now.
- Nicotine Patch Working / Worked
- The nicotine patch is working for me. I've been smoke free for 5 days now. Had a craving today but it went away after a while. Just have to hang in there! You can do it!
Open Arthritis
I have osteo-arthritis all over! It began back in 1990. Between that and my fibromyalgia I became disabled and could no longer work! I have chronic pain continuously. My medications makes the pain a little more tolerable.
Treatments
- Tylenol Somewhat Helpful
- I supplement with extra strength Tylenol when I need added help.
- Celebrex Somewhat Helpful
- Takes away some of the inflamation! I take 2 a day! Usually they only put you on 1 a day but my doctor recommends the 2 instead.
- Neurontin Somewhat Helpful
- I take 3 800mgs. of this medication a day in combination with the other 2 medications.
Open Senior Dating & Sexuality
I've been divorce since 1987. We were separated for 3 years before that. I haven't dated at all since then. I had to raise my children and then my granddaughter up until the year 2000. Tried dating sites with out any results. Mostly, my fault since I got cold feet! I got hurt so badly when my ex deserted us that I was also afraid to get involved with someone else. I'm still a little nervous but I have to get over it some day. Now is as good of a time as any!

- I use to be a member of parents without partners and I danced a couple of dances with someone. It was okay but I felt out of sorts.Like to give it another try!
- Socializing Considering
- Hasn't worked out to well as of this time. Still looking and hoping. Stopped for a while but went back on the site recently to try again. You never know!
Open Loneliness
I live alone. I've been divorced for over 20. I Lost 3 of my closes friends to death several years ago and then my mom and my daughter 3&4 years ago. I don't socialize as much as I should. I only have one friend and she is not in the best of health either. I have a cat. She is my companion. If it were not for my grandchildren and my children I'd be totally lost. My dad and I are close. I'm grateful for all of them!!
Open Schizophrenia
I was diagnosed with schizo/affective disorder. The symtoms are like schizophrenia. I had visual haulucinations and racey thoughts. I also thought that the radio/TV was trying to send me a message. I was paranoid also. I met a man who suffers from mental illness. He also has some form of Schizophrenia. I'm joining to get some insite regarding this illness and to see if I can help others with it as well.

- Once I became stable with medication I love music. It helps to relax me and bring fond memories into my life.
- Pets Working / Worked
- I've always had a pet. I had a dog and a cat a few years ago until I moved. The cat was sick and I had to put him down and the dog I gave away to a young family since I couldn't have big dogs in my new aparmemt. Now I have a beautiful cat who is my very good friend.

- It save my life!I've been taking it for 15 years now.

- Yes it worked. I was able to express my feelings without being judged.
