So, I have more fabulous swimming to tell about.  One of our close friends is a high school swim coach.  Bryn used to be our babysitter, along with her sisters.  But now she's all married and grown up, and Annie arranged a swim lesson with her  She asked Bryn to teach her how to swim the butterfly stroke (Michael Phelps' speciality).  I went along, thinking a dip in the pool would be fun, but not expecting anything new.  Well, Annie always takes me by surprise, knowing herself much better than I know her (we think she is clairvoyant--she always knows stuff ahead of time).  After about an hour in the pool, Annie really can swim the butterfly!  I couldn't believe my eyes.  Its so fabulous to see her so proud and excited, and to see her learning new skills!  I used to wonder if she would ever learn to walk, and here she is swimming such a difficult stroke.  Of course, it is far from perfection, but all the basic mechanics (including breathing) and timing are in place!  Don't ever assume something will be too hard for you child!  We went and sat in the sauna after, and Annie told all the old men.  They acted suitably impressed. It was a fun day.

I'm going to call the High School next week to see about enrolling her in public school for next year.  I hope it goes well.  My last experience with the school district didn't end well, but its been 10 years, and circumstances are different, so I am hopeful that they will help me make it successful.
