The internet
I love the internet, it is a life line when I'm just too tired to do anything 'real'

I am a 42 year old mother of three. I was diagnosed with narcolepsy and cataplexy in Feb 2007, a month after qualifying as a state registered nurse. i work long shifts (day and night) and absolutley love my job looking after stroke patients. I have to watch it though as the cataplexy tends to kick in when i tell relatives of the patients (small but meaningful) achievements, like 'he held a cup himself today'.

I am interested in many many things. I find the Brain a particularly fascinating subject and on good days (there are a few) I am constantly amazed by its ability to paraylse me totally in a split second. HOW DOES IT MANAGE IT? As a stroke nurse i often witness patients who's brain is relearning old skills - sometimes suprisingly easily. I am interested in how long I can continue working eratic shifts with out the effect on my health becoming too detrimental. The logical part of me says I should work regular hours etc etc but I love working a mixture of shifts, during the day we get to meet freinds and family and it is hectically busy, and at night I get time to be with and suport the patients. How can I give up either of these? Well I hope i won't have to.. time will tell

I don't know if what I have is pheochromocytoma, I'm new to all the different names. But it seems that I have a 'growth' on my Right Kidney, my doc calls it an adrenal adenoma/carcinoma
